The Silence debuted in Doctor Who two-part series six opener 'The Impossible Astronaut'/'Day of the Moon', where The Doctor and his companions discovered that the aliens had been manipulating human events for centuries.
Darvill explained that he finds The Silence particularly frightening because they can erase themselves from their victim's memory.
He said in a recent conference call: "I'm a big fan of The Silence I think they're a brilliant creation from Steven because there's something - as well as looking absolutely horrible, you know, when we're working with them we do kind of look at them and get really freaked out.
"I think the psychological element of what they can do and how they affect people is brilliant. And, you know, you can't remember their names but they could even be walking around, you know, around our cities at the moment but we'd never know. And I just think that's a really brilliant scary idea."
Darvill recently said he's happy that Rory and The Doctor's relationship has developed throughout Doctor Who's sixth series.
Doctor Who continues with the episode 'The God Complex' on Saturday on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US.
