The Gavin & Stacey star reprises his role as Craig Owen in this week's instalment of the sci-fi drama.
"It's all change. Craig's living the life with Sophie he always wished for - but Craig's still Craig," Corden told the Radio Times.
His alter ego Craig first appeared in last year's 'The Lodger', and Corden said that he did not expect to return to Doctor Who.
"When I left last time, I thought it was a great experience," he explained. "But it never crossed my mind that I would come back, because most people don't.
"So when they asked me to return, which was before they'd written it, I said yes immediately."
Doctor Who's penultimate episode of the series, 'Closing Time', airs this Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One and at 9/8c on BBC America.
