Former Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman was unveiled this morning at BBC Broadcasting House as the new Doctor Who companion.

Coleman, who is starring later this week in ITV1's major drama series Titanic, will join Matt Smith's Time Lord in the BBC sci-fi show's seventh run.

She replaces Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams), who announced their departures from the show at the end of last year.

Coleman, who was born in Blackpool, landed the part of Jasmine Thomas in Emmerdale in 2005, and has also appeared in Waterloo Road and Captain America: The First Avenger.

But what do you think of her casting? Is she a fitting replacement for Karen? Vote in our poll below and share your opinions at the bottom of the page!
