During the Doctor Who panel event at the San Diego fan convention, Moffat refused to comment on reports that John Barrowman's character Captain Jack wouldn't be involved in the anniversary, claiming that fans would have to wait and see which favourite characters would be involved.
When asked why Captain Jack isn't involved in the 50th, Moffat said: "You can't put everybody in the 50th. How do you know what is and what is not in the 50th?
"I have lied my arse off for months. You know nothing so don't make presumptions.
"It's always story-driven. If we have a great idea for Captain Jack, he'll come back. If we don't, he won't."
Earlier in the weekend at Comic-Con, Barrowman appeared at the Arrow panel and joked about the fact that he hadn't been invited back to Doctor Who for the 50th.
Meanwhile, Moffat also confirmed at Comic-Con that he hasn't picked his replacement for Matt Smith's Doctor yet.
