Exclusive: 'Doctor Who' honoured at the TVChoice Awards 2013 - watch video

Doctor Who wins big at the TVChoice Awards 2013 in a Digital Spy exclusive clip.

Steven Moffat accepts the 'Outstanding Contribution Award' from former star of the BBC sci-fi hit Peter Davison in footage shot at the awards, which took place on September 9.


In his speech, showrunner Moffat pays tribute to Doctor Who's "wonderful" and "incomparable" leading man Matt Smith, before calling Davison and fellow Who veteran David Tennant to the stage.

Doctor Who also fought off competition from Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and Waterloo Road to win 'Best Drama' on the night.

The long-running series will mark its 50th anniversary in November with a special feature-length episode and a slate of celebratory programming on the BBC.

Peter Capaldi will then replace Matt Smith as the show's lead at Christmas, becoming the show's 12th Doctor.
