Daleks to battle Aladdin and Faye from Steps

Doctor Who's celebrated enemies The Daleks are set to appear on stage later this year to battle Aladdin and Faye Tozer from pop group Steps.

Entitled Aladdin: The 3D Adventure of a Lifetime, the production will see the metal-encased mutants "threaten to exterminate Aladdin’s plans to marry Princess Jasmine and live happily ever after ", according to a press release.

Danny Adams will be playing the title role, while former Steps performer Tozer will feature as the magical spirit Scherazade. The pantomime is set to run throughout December and January at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The Daleks have previously glided across the boards on several occasions, including the 1965 play The Curse of the Daleks and the 1989 musical , which featured Jon Pertwee and subsequently Colin Baker.
