Millvina Dean, 95, has claimed that the show's producers have displayed insensitivity by featuring the Titanic in the festive episode.
Voyage Of The Damned, which airs on Christmas Day, sees The Doctor battling a new enemy on board a luxury space cruiser called the Titanic. The space ship later ends up in flames when disaster strikes.
"The Titanic was a tragedy which tore so many families apart," Millvina is quoted by the Daily Record as saying. "I lost my father and he lies on that wreck. I think it is disrespectful to make entertainment of such a tragedy."
However, a spokeswoman for the show insisted: "No offence was intended. Voyage Of The Damned is set on a space ship called The Titanic and not a boat."
