The event, to take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, July 27, will include a pre-recorded scene specially written by Russell T Davies featuring David Tennant as the Time Lord. Former companion Freema Agyeman, who played Martha Jones, has been announced as the host for the show and will be joined by a procession of Daleks and Cybermen on stage, according to BBC News.
Alongside Doctor Who's theme tune and Murray Gold's acclaimed soundtrack for the revived series, other music related to time and space will be played. These pieces include Holst's 'The Planets - Jupiter' and Wagner's 'Die Walkure - the Ride of the Valkyries'.
The BBC has yet to confirm whether the concert is scheduled to be televised as part of the Proms season, although BBC Radio 3 will air it in its entirety.
