Capaldi reveals 'Doctor Who' devotion

Ahead of his guest appearance as Caecilius in the show's upcoming episode 'The Fires Of Pompeii', Capaldi told Radio Times magazine: "I was devoted to Doctor Who, so I'm thrilled to be in it. I didn't even read the script. I just said 'yes'."
Capaldi, best known for his recent role in The Thick Of It, also revealed the profound effect of seeing the Tardis in front of him during filming. "I pulled back the drapes and there it was," he said. "It's such a part of your childhood and you've survived - I'm nearly 50 - so to have a bit of your childhood still there, and the real thing, was very moving."
He also added: "Everybody apparently comes on the show and says they're great fans of it and usually it's just a lie. But in my case it's actually true."
