'Dr Who' ratings leap in later timeslot

According to overnight figures, 7.7 million tuned in to watch The Doctor meet Agatha Christie in 'The Unicorn and The Wasp', shown at 7pm on Saturday.
Season premiere 'Partners In Crime' attracted 8.4 million in a 6.20pm slot, but overnight ratings for 'The Poison Sky' fell below the 6 million mark for only the third time since the show was revived in 2005. Warm weather in early May was cited as another reason for the slump.
The BBC's decision to move the acclaimed series to earlier in the evening to make way for reality series I'd Do Anything caused uproar among many fans of the show. Showrunner Russell T Davies even spoke out against the move, claiming that it could lose the programme 1.5 million viewers.
