Who's the new Doctor facing off against?

If you don't want to know, then you probably shouldn't scroll down beyond this lovely picture of Matt Smith and Karen Gillen.

The Daleks are back.... again.

The Doctor's most persistent of nemeses will be back in an episode of the upcoming fifth series, penned by Mark 'Lazarus' Gatiss.

The story - airing as episode two or three of the new run - sees The Doctor and companion Amy Pond arrive in London in World War II.

According to reports, the pair then come face to face with Prime Minister Winston Churchill and discover that he is using an army of Daleks in the fight against the Nazis.

The metal monsters have apparently been painted with green battle colours and equipped with Union Jack flags on their helmets.

The Daleks were last seen in the series four finale as part of creator Davros's ultimately foiled plan to destroy all of creation.

Are you pleased to see The Daleks back in the new series? Or do they need to be rested from the show for a while? Add your comments to this entry below!

What would Doctor Who be without the Daleks? Sure, they can be a little one-dimensional at times, but they've been around so long that they've grown on me. I'm glad they're back, and I look forward to seeing what Steven Moffat does with them.

Give the daleks a rest for about three years and then bring them back, same with the Cybermen. Why do the new Cybermen say delete? I much prefered the old Cybermen saying eradicate them. I want to see the Yeti, Ogrons, Ice Warriors, Zygons, Krotons, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, The Toymaker, The Draconians, The Master, Autons brought back.

They definetly need a rest. The classic series didn't have them this often and it always turned into a fairly big thing when the Daleks returned after a few year's rest. Thsi would benefit the new series in 2 ways: 1) Brings in new monsters rather than having to rely on old ones. That's a sign of lazy writing. and 2) They could make it into a huge advertising campaign if they were to return after about 5 years break.

I like the Daleks. I think that they should come back, but not in such rapid succession and so soon. Give them time. Work out a real good way and reason for them to return. It's not hard. Also, ***don't kill every single bloody dalek off and make it less plausible that they should return again***. Hell, do a story without Daleks that features the Movellans!

Please please please stop with Daleks. Its getting stupid now. The doctor exterminates the daleks every season but they keep coming back, frankly its absurd.

To be honest i really think that the daleks need a rest, otherwise if they just keep bringing them back that often it wont be as good, as if they were to only bring them back once every season or 2, then there could be alot more thrill to it, to do with the daleks as they are one of the doctors main enemy's.

The Dalek costumes cost the BBC too much to NOT use them every year, so get used to the idea that they will be back at least twice each season. Get used to the idea that the BBC is driven by money in the same way as the rest of the world. Yeessshhhh !!!

Moffat,Gatiss and now richard Curtis writting I think we are in safe hands the daleks will have had 2 years off its time for them to return. Fighting the Naizs what could be better?

I can't wait to see the new colour Daleks :) Like a lot of people on here, I'd love to see the Zygons return, but I'd also like to see the Ice Warriors and the original race of Cybermen turn up and face off with their inferior alternative reality cousins :)
Chris Maerdy, on September 7th, 2009
Oh god no not the bloody Cybermen, Delete Delete Delete, ohhh scary. I do tend to agree though the daleks should definately be given a well earned rest the poor sods lol. And @Diamondis I will bloody well write on here in whatever form I choose, chose to write it WTF instead of the full literal version due to causing offence to anyone who reads as sometimes children do read things on the internet, I mean please forgive me for being respectful and for making a few typing mistakes like you have never done that before I bet.

Well, what a surprise NOT! This is hardly a shock, most people expected them to be back anyway.

Why don't they give the daleks a break. The appeal of the early season was to wait in anticipation for the Big Baddie to be revealed and that somehow mad it more exciting and people want to watch each week. With the daleks however we all know what is coming and no real surprises with them, they have been killed before they will be killed again. I understand that with a brand new doctor and brand new companion that the show needs something that viewers can recognise instantly as being from the whoniverse and that the daleks are guarenteed to pull in the viewers. But why not use the cybermen and have them as a secret robot army for example, as i feel the daleks have been flogged to death as they appear EVERY series.

Yes Matt Smith has to battle the daleks but not so soon!!!! If we have to have old monsters back can't we have Yeti, Zygons, Ice Warriors or even Krotons! And a third trip to Peladon would be quite welcome too. Gulp, yes I'm going to say it..... Iwanna see the Brig (Lethbridge-Stewart) back!! (And Tegan!!!)
Rob, Birmingham, on September 6th, 2009
They have now lost the element of surprise thanks to Russell T Davis. The best way to use the Daleks again would be teaming them up with the Cybermen rather than having them fight against each other, creating a more menacing threat. Or have them in an episode featuring the Master, at the moment they are overused because they feature in the same old plots.
Dave, Aus, on September 6th, 2009
NO!!!! Stephen Moffat promised to give the daleks a well earned rest!!!!! I was hoping to see more cybermen and some more of moffats own great monsters.
Diamondis, on September 6th, 2009
@Chris Maerdy Only people who can use the English language properly should be allowed to comment in text form. Daleks in the first few episodes is fine with me, gets them out of the way. I love them dearly but they should sit out a season or two. I think the Sea Devils actually are coming back, though it could just be rumour. I hate Matt Smith's outfit... So much. I just hope his performance can compensate to keep me watching.
David, Carshalton, on September 6th, 2009
There is no reason why the daleks cant be in every season, the endings need to be better and as long as the script works for the episode, keep them in !!!
Chris Maerdy Rhondda, on September 5th, 2009
WTF how many sticks of a certain nature has this new dr been hit with he looks like the love child of robert de niro slash bruce forsythe! and whats with the bloody dickie bow come on lets please get some god damn sense going on here, bring back davud tennant what an absolutly amazing actor and good eye candy also.
Andy, on September 5th, 2009
Smith needs to take on the daleks, and all these people winging about dalek returns should shut up - don't like it, don't watch! At least it's not the finale, which opens up big questions about that
Dave, on September 5th, 2009
No we want more daleks they are the best enemy of the doctor since day one of doctor who, please dnt get rid of them
