Regular readers will know that we're just a teensy bit infatuated with John Barrowman here at Tube Talk. So imagine our arousal excitement when we were invited for a chat with the big man in his dressing room backstage at La Cage aux Folles. In. His. Dressing. Room. Click 'play' below to watch our extended bout of flirting interview, in which we discuss the musical, the future of Torchwood, his return to Doctor Who and the possibility of JB joining Desperate Housewives.
We're still struggling to remove that microphone, you know. Anyway, click play below for a bit of bonus Barrowman action, in which our newest roving reporter gives us a tour backstage at La Cage.
Additional reporting/nifty camerawork from Chris Allen
What do you make of the interview? He's definitely coming back to Who, right? Would he be a good addition to Housewives? Add your comments to this entry below!

I can't wait to see whatever he is in and i'm sure it will be Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic. I love the bit he says about Scott, it's so lovely. That's why i love this man. I can't wait to read his and Carole's book series, and their Torchwood Novel. He's my favourite man in the whole world and i can't wait to see what the future bring. If John says he's not telling. Leave it as that :) but my heart says yes. He's in it. I hope he is anyway. I love this man!

One word: AWESOME YOU LOT! ok maybe three worlds but thanks digital spy for feeding the JB fixation. He's hyper and I love it! He's the kinda of guy you just want to be in a room with and start singing Cole Porter songs.

Here's what I say: If John wants to say that Captain Jack will always be there when The Doctor needs him and calls for him, then I am willing to take him at his word (after all, maybe The Doctor does not end up needing him or does not call for him) Also, what if The Master doesn't technically come back and it's just a dream sequence or something? That's always possible, people!

Aww, I got all excited there for a moment when he said the new music was all "musical based". I sooo want a 'La Cage Aux Folles' cast album with him and Simon Burke and Tracie Bennett. There aren't any really great La Cage cast albums available. Their one could be definitive and it would SELL. Come on. Someone badger them into it! PS - Those Cagelles girls/boys are fabulous. I LOVE Dane. He's hilarious in the show. PPS - John is SUCH a bad liar. Glad to hear he's planning (ie: making room in his schedule for) more Torchwood next year. I too hope they do a proper 13 episode series this time. The more Captain Jack on our screens the better. (And, DAMNIT, YES, I hope Ianto is in it! There's no good reason he can't come back. They may die young in Torchwood, it may be a dangerous job, it may've been the right choice for such a bleak trigger-happy narrative, but that doesn't mean he can't come back! Nothing precludes it. I will concede no writerly excuses on this matter! Indulge no attempts at justification! A full-on Christ-like resurrection for our dear Ianto or nothing. End of. So ner. ;-P )

Torchwood without Ianto. No with me. If Ianto stay dead, it's illogic. If Jack love him so much, he should do something to save him. I find that curious too you cut the video when he talk about Ianto. It's long BBC to give a go to another season (for a season 3 who have been so awesome and the good ratings).

Thanks Neil, Chris, & Digitalspy for a great JB interview. I'm sure you've been able to remove that mic from wherever JB shoved it...I had no idea his schedule is nearly booked until 2012. It's great to hear that he as all but admitted that he's in the last DT helmed Doctor Who. As someone else mentioned, I'm fed up with the Beeb's (BBC) unwillingness to give timely information regarding both Doctor Who and a series 4 of Torchwood. I was also shocked by the death of Ianto and Steven. But considering that COE was written and designed to be "BBC event television", I understand, but disagree with these unnecessary character deaths. COE really made me think, especially in these days of anti-terrorist wars and increased security. Neil, congrats on a great interview. You gave JB a good go by asking excellent questions, and pressing for great answers. How did you get him to do the extra insider interview? I hope you have the opportunity to interview him again during Panto in Cardiff this winter. Thanks again for this great insight into the business of John Barrowman.

Not sure JB deserve's the slam about a big ego...but everyone's entitled to an opinion. I too loved the Jack/Ianto relationship and would have loved it if Ianto had lived. But really, I don't think Gwen's dying would have had the same type of impact on the viewers. That moment (Ianto's death) stunned me. And remember, Jack had to be in the "darkest" place ever to even think of agreeing to Steven's sacrifice...and Ianto's death put him there. RTD/Julie might want a TW S4 that is all about Gwen, but I just don't think it will pull in the viewers if that were so. Those of you who think that JB has GDL envy are mistaken imo.

Thanks for the nice interview. It`s good to hear John`s view on COE like it was. I hope that there is a series 4 with Captain Jack in it cause there is more good on the horizon. I didn`t hear any GDL envy ,why should he envy him. John has his own carriere,at this point most an even longer and in my humble opinion a more varied carriere the GDL has. They don`t make it a competetion between them so why should the fans, jeez. I loved the comments about la cage aswell.

Um...did I miss something? I didn't notice any GDL envy. He was asked a question and answered it...and since the interview is supposed to be about John Barrowman, not Gareth David Lloyd, I didn't expect him to dwell on it to the detriment of the rest of the interview. At one time, I thought RTD might have brought Ianto back in some way (flashbacks or whatever...), but with people insisting he HAS to, I now doubt he will. That kind of talk tends to get people's backs up...it would mine.

Thank you so much for yet more video interviews with the wonderful John Barrowman. He is articulate, charming and an entertainer to his fingertips.

Great interview with John! I'm looking forward to seeing what season 4 brings. More adventures for our dashing Capt please! I'd love for the show to go back in time to Victorian Jack, or WW2 Jack. Come on BBC, please write this :D

Fingers crossed for a TW series 4. Loved COE and the previous two series. Series 3 was such a success it would be such a shame not have another series. Come on BBC, announce it already!!!

Great interview! Keep 'em coming! I think he'll be 'guesting' in Dr Who but just in snatches as it has to fit in with all of his other engagements. Roll on Torchwood ON CONDITION that it's more upbeat than Series 3 which left me shattered and disillusioned. As for Desperate Housewives that would be great provided that they write just the right role for him - I can see Bree being destabilised by his charm, that's for sure! Long may he reign!

Supposedly, according to the "Hysterical Nine" women, DS is in cahoots with RTD and JB in keeping GDL from coming back to Torchwood 4, so that they can make it "All About Gwen". Lord, love a duck with those crazy ladies and that one French Canadian dude.

Mr. Barrowman you need to check you ego at the door. There seems to be a little GDL envy showing.

Loved the interview. He's always good entertainment...not one of those grouchy interviewees. For those complaining about his remarks around COE...what do you expect? If he wants to work in the show again, he's not going to trash RTD or decisions that were made by the writers/director/producers. I and many others certainly want another series of Torchwood. I was gutted by the deaths of Ianto and Steven, just as I was by those of Tosh and Owen...but I loved Children of Earth. (I would have liked a little less of Gwen and Frobisher, but I'm not going to whine about it.)

Re: future Torchwood - I totally love John and Capt. Jack but a Torchwood without Ianto, without the Jack and Ianto relationship or even worse a Torchwood with a "REPLACEMENT for Ianto" would be unwatchable to me. I can't believe or accept a Jack who won't do anything to have his Ianto back. It was love, wasn't it? So Jack just can't move on to the next 'boy toy'. *That* would really mean cheapening Ianto's death.
