Exclusive: A special gift from John Barrowman to you

It's hardly a secret that we're big fans of John 'quadruple threat' Barrowman here at Tube Talk, and over the last year, it's become apparent that he quite likes us too. And today he comes bearing gifts!

Exclusively for TT readers, JB's given us the first listen to 'The Doctor And I', a track recorded for the iTunes version of his upcoming album John Barrowman. The song is a reworking of 'The Wizard And I' from the musical Wicked.

"I first sang this version of the song at a concert in Wales for, amongst others, David Tennant and Russell T. Davies," John tells us, "and they loved it. Which is why it's on this album. We've given it new lyrics to make the song relevant to Captain Jack and his relationship with the Doctor. It’s quirky, it's funny and it's really good. I'm terribly proud of it."

Hit 'play' below to listen to the preview:

I am soooo happy that John is releasing a recording of this song! I am a massive fan of John, Torchwood and Doctor Who and the musical Wicked, and I saw him perform a version of this at his concert in Bristol a couple of years ago!! I loved it and have been telling people about it ever since so to finally be able to have it to listen to whenever I like will be amazing! Yay!

I love John Barrowman but this is possibly the worst song I've ever heard - tacky, simplistic and entrely lack lustre. Shame on you Mr Barrowman!

A funny rendition of 'The Wizard & I'. Obviously nothing can beat the original but that clearly isn't what John is trying to do. Just a bit of fun, right? And a grand farewell to David. <3

I don't know if it was a problem with my server or not, but the audio quality was so absolutely terrible that I could just barely tell that there was a vocal with the music. Was it that bad for everyone?
LINDA ..SHEFFIELD, on February 12th, 2010

This is a lovely tribute! I especially liked the 'defabricate' phrase in the lyrics. Well done! Thanks for sharing this with us.
