Pics: Matt Smith versus The Trolley

Published Friday, Mar 5 2010, 10:20 GMT | By Neil Wilkes | 24 comments
The new series of Doctor Who is almost upon us (around a month or so to go, by our reckoning) and as the anticipation mounts, the cast and crew are hard at work filming the last few episodes.

Here are the latest pictures from the set, which are believed to be from the Gareth Roberts-penned episode that guest stars James Corden.

Just a normal house, where normal guys could live...

Is it an OAP? Is it a tramp? No, it's The Doctor!

The positions of odds-and-sods in that trolley are going to be a nightmare for continuity (and fanboys everywhere).

New haircut, Doctor?

"Who wants an autograph?"

People that call other people ugly are usually hideous themselves. And Matt is certainly NOT ugly... just a bit mad looking.

I do feel that with such a young actor cast as the Doctor and a young assistant too they are going for the younger audience, that said Dr Who was originally aimed at youngsters even though the first few Doctors were relatively older men

What would be nice would be to see some continual CHANGES OF CLOTHING during the new season. Lets get away from this "the Doctor" only wears one set of clothes malarky.

I too agree with Markie. I'm a life long fan of Doctor who, I love this show show much and have watched all ten of the Doctors incarations! I'm a bit sick and tired of people moaning about matt Smith . I happen to think he will be great as I have watched smith in Party Animals, Mosses Jones and the things with billie piper and he was brillant in all of them. DT will be much missed but dr who is about change afterall and that is the most wonderful thing about this programe is that this one character has been potryed in ten diffrent ways. And I'm so looking forward to seeing how Matt will take on the roll. He will be funny and wise as the rest of them. but please stop moaning about and trying to ruin this show for the rest of us who adore Doctor who for what it is. I will never tire of watching it and welcome aboard Matt Smith the universe is now for you too save, tweed jacket and all.

I agree with both markie, camden and Ian, London - Have any of the naysayers actually considered Matt Smiths acting ability? He's a talented and versatile young guy - he's going to go down in history as one of the greats in my view - have checked out all his stuff. Suggest some folk do the same - yes, he's not Tennant, thank god - his time was up and he wasnt the most Dr'ish person ever - give me Eccleston any day! Change is good - and not a moment too soon!

Agree whole heartedley with Markie from Camden.

Hello! This is a series called Doctor Who - a 47 year old television series about the adventures of a Time Lord who travels in time and space who regenerates in his darkest hour. It's not about and has never been about David Tennant. It's not the David Tennant fan club. If people think 'Oh, I'm not gonna watch it if David Tennant's not in it' then don't. Go and watch repeats of Casannova. Which was a TV programme too, and not David Tennant's 'This Is Your Life'. Matt Smith will be a brilliant Doctor and I'm getting sick of people knocking him before his reign has even begun. How many people said that Christopher Eccleston couldn't be replaced? And hands up who rolled their eyes when they heard that Billie Piper had been cast? Who said that Catherine Tate would ruin the show? For 13 years fans complained about the lack of and for the reinstatement of Doctor Who back onto our screens. Enjoy it for what it is. It's all of our show - not just yours.

Not sure we're normal - but we do live in this house!
Patrick, sunderland, on March 6th, 2010
This is from the James Cordon episode entitled 'The Lodger' The Dr sends the Tardis through time with Amy locked inside by mistake, he then has to learn to live like a normal human being, one of these things is getting a flat mate, who James turns out to be He then takes the Dr for nights out, dates etc..
Ian, London, on March 6th, 2010
You know, people who want DT back because the new Doctor is seen with a trolley, and make judgements on that, well I wonder if they perhaps need some specialist mental attention. Life must be very strange for you.
Ben, Hull, on March 6th, 2010
The problem with Tennant's reign is of course people expct The Doctor to be a heartthrob hollywood eske hero... when in reality the character is the polar opposite from that. Hopefully Matt will show that to the "Nu" Who viewers.
