Published Wednesday, Mar 10 2010, 12:41 GMT | By Neil Wilkes | 16 comments
The countdown is on! There's now less than a month to go until the brand new series(*) of Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, bursts onto our screens. To celebrate, Tube Talk will be bringing you exclusive interviews, videos and previews over the next few weeks as part of a feature we've rather cleverly dubbed Whozapalooza! 2010.
First up, we have a sneak preview of our in-depth interview with new showrunner Steven Moffat, in which he discusses writing Matt's debut scene in 'The End Of Time, Part Two'. Hit 'play' to see:
Check back in next week to read our interview with Karen Gillan!
What did you think of Matt's first scene? Add your comments to this entry below!
(*) Do we have consensus yet on whether it's series five, series six(!), series one or series 31?!
Additional reporting by Chris Allen

I think Moffat will do a great job. He's always been a loving fan of the show, his episodes have always been spectacular and award winning, and alot darker than RTD's. He has also doing the writing on Steven Spielbergs Tintin film. So I have faith in his abilities. Ive watched through alot of re-generations. New doctors take an episode or 2 to get used to, but give the poor guy a chance!

1. Moffat isnt the "director", he's the producer and has won more awards for the series than Davies 2. 30 people aint nothing but a worthless minority who will die with no imagination. YOU don't know what kids want, they'll make up their own mind without 'tards like you telling them what they should or shouldnt think 4. You're obviously another dumb Tennant fangirl who can't comprehend his time is over. Go away.

Technically speaking it IS, unquestionably, series one, because that's what it says on all the production documents, camera slates, etc etc. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be branded as Series One on TV/DVD/etc though.

It's series five. The official Beeb stuff and upcoming merchandise say it, so it's official!

Can we all agree to disagree? Personally I see it as series five - as that was what was being referred to before we even knew that David Tennant *sob* wasn't returning for it. I was actually checking out the Canadian broadcasters' website and think perhaps we should go with their opinion - it's the 'new' series!

It has to be series five - calling it series one would confuse people, as would calling it series 31. And the Specials were released under the name "Specials", so yes, it should be series Five!

i pesonally think the new director is an idiot. who does he think he is..making the personality of the 11th doctor like the 10th. what we loved about david tennat was that he was over reacting..and now he wants to make matt smith like that too. and who does he think he is saying matt smith is the best doctor. he is what..40 he dont know what kids like these days..and i have more that 30 people who agree with me.

Fnarg or 31. To quote Moffat: 'it's only Series 5 if you genuinely believe Matt Smith is the Third Doctor'! :-D

Series 5, if the DVD is up on the BBC Shop under that name, then it's going to be the official series number... even if the production team say otherwise, perhaps it's going to be nice and easy to carry on the numbers from Tennant for the viewers sake.

Yup, it's definitely series fnarg. Moffat called it that himself in Doctor Who Magazine. Hopefully the new series is much better than it's gimicky and cheesy trailer.

It's Series Fnarg, of course! XD It's kind of nice to hear it wasn't difficult to write, that gives hope for the rest of the season. Looking forward to the rest of that interview!

I would call it series 5 of the new series' because it went away for ages then when David came we didnt call it series 1 if we had then yes I think we would have called this Series 1 too but I think they will carry onto series 5 now.
