We're under Stonehenge and the clock is ticking - the Pandorica is opening! What's more, The Doctor, Amy and River have company... Eager for some hints about the upcoming finale, we quizzed Matt Smith and Karen Gillan about what we can expect on Saturday.

While we were there, Matt also told us just how excited he is about his first ever Christmas episode and his love for "complete genius" Steven Moffat. Click 'play' below to watch the interviews:

I hope Matt Smith is The Doctor forever...I think he's superb in the role.

Matt Smith is an amazing young man @27. He really brings life into the part of the doctor: his wit, his charm, sense of humor, and last..but not least.....he is very handsome with all of the above. He is a very good actor. There are traits that are so warm, gentle, loving, protective that show through to his real personality. Wish I knew some guy like him. Matt Smith is A++++++ everything that you could want . Karen Gillan is also very fantastic: lots of charm and wit. Wonderful cast!

I have complete faith in Steven Moffat giving us an episode that will be entertaining, emotional, and thought provoking. This season has been a joy to follow, and I look forward to many, many years with The Moff and Matt Smith.Karen Gillan has been fun to watch as well, and Amy Pond's story should be fun to see resolved in the series finale.

I simply can't imagine how anyone could think this series is worse than the first four of the resurrected show. Thank God Russell T Davies has, leaving his customary trail of slime behind him, gone on to inflict himself upon other sectors of the viewing public. Stephen Moffat has recaptured the wit, the whimsy, and the fun of the original show. I'd sworn off Doctor Who entirely before Messrs. Moffat and Smith came roaring into town. Matt Smith could wipe the floor with Eccleston and Tennant, and Moffat can write circles around Davies. Can't wait for The Big Bang--can't wait to have Smith, Gillan, Moffat, and Wenger back next season.

The writing is so infantile and so below par. If this is to be the norm, then we adults will all have to start our own cretinous and boring podcasts about Doctor Who, the show which we don't like. They should employ the poet laureate to write the scripts for the next series.Quite frankly, Doctor Who is supposed to be for neurotic and paranoid nerdy fanboys who haven't got much of a life, as a norm, and is not intended to be for a kids or a family audience. As Dave AC Cooper once said on Podshock, "As we all know, it's not a children's show".The truth is, all episodes of all series of Doctor Who should be written, produced and directed exactly as I, Nerd E (Grumpy Big 'ed) Fanboy like them and want them to be.

I've loved the Doctor Who revival and had high hopes for this season...hopes that were thankfully met and exceeded. Matt is right you can't predict Steven's brain! He has an amazing grasp of the exciting possibilities the show's time-traveling conceit opens up. May their combined reign be long and glorious :)

I like where they've tried to take the Doctor this season. DT's doctor was more emotional and let things affect him, whereas MS's doctor let's it build all up inside him - with the odd moment where he snaps and shouts. For this one reason, I've been eager to see how it builds up and he lets out his pain and frustration at the end. Then again, on the other hand, as many have said - this season as a whole has been a slight let down. A few good eps which I've watched over and over, but others which I can't even remember they were so lack-luster.Lets all hope that the team learn from this season, and the xmas ep/next season will build on their experience :)

This series has been unbelievably good! What can I say about Matt Smith? His portrayal of the doctor is just genius. For me and many many others (according to the doctor who forum) the Moffat era is sheer bliss!

am i watching the same Dr Who as everyone else? this series has been 1 big let down. pure rubbish. don't get me wrong, i like the new doctor and amy. i like all of the main cast. but the stories?? it reminds me of when sylvester mccoy was the doctor and it was scrapped.

Matt Smith is not a bad doctor and shouldn't be blamed for the poor writing. It's a new writing staff this year & it shows. We feel that it's been simplified for the kids, and in by doing that is alienating the adult fans. There have been a few good episodes, but overall this year been pretty bad compared to previous years. It was bit of a cop-out how they tied the series together in 5 minutes worth of clips at the beginning of the final. We'd have been happier had they extended this to occupy half the episode, while at the same time we see the Doctor and Amy traveling to the diamond cliff, but perhaps that would have been too 'confusing' for what the new writers seem to have in mind. This may be more of a personal opinion, however we have always been able to relate more with past companions. Nothing against Karen Gillen, but the Amy character is very difficult to empathise with. Again, this is more down to the writing. Perhaps they've been too concerned with focusing on Matt's Doctor that they have neglected Amy. Hopefully next year they will flesh her character out a bit, and give her a bit more 'soul'.

I can not agree with some fans that this has been the best series of doctor who, in my opinion its been the worst series in its five year run . I have been a big fan of the show but i have lost intrest in it this year ,its been a complete let down and the show has changed so dramtically it doesnt feel like doctor who anymore. I have nothing aganist matt smith as an actor, but i just dont think he is right for doctor who. I realise he is staying for another year and i just hope that the writing improves and he grows on me.

I absolutely love Smith, fantastic series. But he can never replaced Tennant. No matter how brilliant he gets. I see quite a bit of Ten in Eleven. I would prefer Tennant come back forever. But Smith is good for a few more years I reckon.

i think Matt is an excellent doctor but because of some very dissapointing scripts, Matt has had a lot of bad press. people should stop blaming him because it is not his fault. i'd like to see Matt as the doctor for at least the same legnth of time as david tennant

This is the best Doctor Who series ever. I have never been into this TV show from the very beginning of time.... well, perhaps a little with Tom Baker. But Matt, Karen, the writer and all production crew involved, this is just amazing!Well Done BBC. Long may these two reign.
Paul, on June 19th, 2010
The penultimate episode was very good, surprisingly. The rest of these series has been dire though.I think it is time for a new doctor and a new assistant.
jon walsh, on June 19th, 2010
matt smiths first season was just brilliant long may he continue as the doctor
