'Doctor Who': Christmas Special First Look - Picture

The festive special, penned by showrunner Steven Moffat, will see the Doctor embark on an adventure in World War II England with a young widow and her two children.

The BBC has now released a new picture from the extended episode that shows Matt Smith's Time Lord in action.

Outnumbered actress Claire Skinner will appear opposite Smith, alongside comedians Alexander Armstrong, Arabella Weir and Bill Bailey.
The currently untitled special is expected to air on Christmas Day on BBC One, though a final broadcast date has yet to be confirmed.
A short Doctor Who sketch will also air as part of this year's Children in Need broadcast on Friday, November 18.
