Aaaaah! I live in Trogir! I walked down the waterfront and saw the whole set. I thought it's all about some usual coastal performance like we have it often here, but then I asked about it and they told me that they are filming a Dr. Who scene. I took pics imediately so i could show off in front of my friends xD :P :)

great, the media in croatia are soo lame if they could not report about this extremly interestig event, it's not like every week there is filming of cult hit series like Doctor Who, if i knew about it, at least a would visit the set, who knows, mybe meet the actors :)

Doctor Who is a really great show, combining the past present and future. The Doctor gets into enough trouble... :) let alone bringing in a few Vampires..... to spice up the Plots.

Vampires have even been in the new series. The old woman in Smith and Jones was effectively a vampire... they were just called plasmavores. And that was a pretty cool villain, so I wouldn't mind more of the species. I LOVE Amy's sense of style... would very much like to go shopping with her, lol. I'm liking eleven's outfit as well (and while I feel like a bit of a traitor saying this) I love his hair. I do hope that the earbuds belong to Matt rather than the Doctor, however. I hope that Rory is more fortunate than Mickey was, because I wouldn't particularly enjoy a repeat of that plot, and Doctor/Companion has gotten a little bit old.

Anyone know if they'll only be filming in the Trogir/Adriatic coast area? Any chance of Zagreb being a filming location :D?

So different parts of Croatia could be used for two different time periods....well they do that for parts of Wales so.... Matt Smith's doctor is going to be great - why? Because Steve Moffat is in charge of it all. There's no logical way we can think the 2010 series - it's been largely written by the guy who wrote several of the most admired episodes in Nu Who (you know? Like 'Blink'?). The TARDIS looks different because of filming in HD. It'll look better than the old version (apparently). How that'll change from the old version looks to be really cool (looking at spy photos on other websites).

i think david tennant is the best dr who ever, but i think it's only fair that we give matt smith a chance before we start to slate him.

Vampires have always been in Dr who... 'State of decay' with Tom Baker and Lalla Ward was a vampire story.and in one episode of 'The Chase ' with the first Doctor William Hartnell there was a Vampire in the haunted house they visited along with a Frankenstiens monster etc...

Vampires? I can't believe Doctor Who is jumping on a bandwagon, instead of leading the parade. Sick to death (ha ha) of vampires.
Sam,Suffolk on December 3rd, 2009
I think that Matt Smith looks arrogant and he has a face you want to punch. I love doctor who but I think that both of them are going to destroy it. David Tennant was the best. Can't wait until xmas day nd news years day for dr hu.

VAmpires have featured in Doctor Who before; in the Tom Baker story "State of Decay"...Also, the Sylvester McCoy story "Curse of Fenric" featured vampires of a sort (Ace called them vampires while the Doctor called the Haemovores. Also there is a novel featuring the Eighth Doctor called "Vampire Science", in which the good Doctor was a feared vampire slayer! So the idea is not new to Doctor Who
Jana, New York on December 3rd, 2009
Actually, they're shooting two episodes in Croatia. Vampires in Venice AND Richard Curtis's story about Vincent Van Gogh (starring Tony Curran as Vincent). Two seperate stories.
Steve / Dover on December 3rd, 2009
Dr. Who has confronted Werewolves so why not Vampires!
Val, West Midlands on December 3rd, 2009
A few random points: gorgeous location; the TARDIS needs dirtying up a bit; the Doctor's got exactly the same shirt as in the early pictures but with blue trim instead of maroon (and matching dickie bow); I wonder how Rory's going to fit into the plot (not Mickey mark II, I hope); Karen's legs should get their own credit in the show because they seem to be playing a bigger part than the rest of her!
Philip, Melbourne on December 3rd, 2009
@Jamie, Swansea: I think you're getting this episode confused with Richard Curtis' (admittedly the two stories are to be filmed in the one production block). This one's supposed to be set in Venice around 1580. Richard Curtis' is about a certain 19th century painter - who did not live in Venice in the 16th century!

Hey, I may be late to the party with this, but anyone notice how the Doctor's shirt and bowtie are blue, not red as they have been in all the other pics seen so far. We just got our first glimpse of the Doctor's new alternative outfit!
CATE MALOTT, DAYTON, OHIO USA on December 2nd, 2009
ANYTHING BELONGS IN DR. WHO WE'VE HAD WEREWOLVES WHY NOT VAMPS.
Jamie, Swansea on December 2nd, 2009
Hasn't anyone yet noticed that Richard Curtis, who wrote this episode, has previously confirmed that the monster featuring in his episode is yellow? And not just any yellow but quite a degree of yellow. Either these vampires are suffering from a severe case of jaundice or... there aren't any vampires in Venice!
Andy, London on December 2nd, 2009
What's with the new TARDIS prop? Looks really artificial, not sure if I like it. New trim on the windows. Very similar to the Peter Cushing one somehow...

I dont mind vampires so much just as long as theres no resemblance to the atrocity that is twilight!
Simon Bristol on December 2nd, 2009
Um, Vampires are part of Doctor Who history
Gareth juicy lips, Vincennes on December 2nd, 2009
Vampires appear to have been attacking the new companion's tights. They're a bit tarty aren't they? Is the new companion a prossy?
cosmin on December 2nd, 2009
cool in croatia, will they come in romania?
Nelle, London on December 2nd, 2009
We've also had Haemovores in The Curse of Fenric and the Plasmavore in Smith and Jones. They're not far off from vampires.
Scott, Glasgow on December 2nd, 2009
Too late... vampires have already been in Who in the Tom Baker episode State of Decay. The "Great Vampire" in that story was part of a race who were ancient enemies of the Time Lords so Who knows?!?
