A judge has denied Richard Hatch the ability to partake in a 10th anniversary edition of Survivor.

The reality show's first season winner is currently under house arrest following his release from jail in May, which stemmed from a tax evasion charge for failing to report his winning's from the series.

Hatch was seeking special permission from a federal judge in Rhode Island to leave the country and cut short the remaining 90 days left on his home confinement, the New York Post reports.

His attorneys pleaded in court that any monies earned from his appearance on the competition would go towards the $400,000 (£245,512) in back taxes and penalties.

The next edition of Survivor begins filming next month on a South Pacific island in Samoa.
