Survivor Panama: Helen voted off

Published Wednesday, Apr 17 2002, 22:30 BST | By Neil Wilkes
Helen Carney has become the lastest evictee on ITV's Survivor: Panama, after a tense tie-breaker with Bridget.

The 22-year-old from Sheffield received 4 votes from members of the merged "Columbus" tribe; equalling that of Bridget, with voting continuing along old tribal lines. A revote saw another tie, with both receiving three votes each.

A "sudden death" quiz on survival facts saw Helen lose out and become the programme's fifth evictee. Helen will not leave the programme however, instead becoming the first member of the jury, who will vote on the winner at the end of the series.

Earlier in the programme, the contestants took part in their first individual immunity challenge - the logstanding challenge. John, Alistair and Jonny last the longest on the log - 24 hours - and eventually agree on a pact that sees Jonny take immunity.

Survivor: Panama airs Wednesday evenings on ITV1, with Survivor: Raw following on ITV2.
