The Torchwood team investigates a decomposed skeleton from the early 19th century found on an excavated site alongside a rusty alien transportation device.
An alluring woman named Mary approaches Toshiko Sato claiming to know about Torchwood. She is identical in both name and features to a servant woman who witnessed a supertnatural event in Cardiff in 1812.
Mary gives Toshiko a pendant that, when worn, gives her access to people's thoughts. Initially intending to tell her colleagues about the device, she chooses not to after she hears some unflattering thoughts from Owen and Gwen, as well as uncovering the pair's flirtations.
Toshiko is emotionally strained by the pendant until Mary tells her it can be used for good - with a young family soon benefitting from it.
Mary and Toshiko start a physical relationship, but the mysterious lady's true form and intentions are soon revealed. It appears that Toshiko's heart is not the only one she's grabbed in recent times...

This was an unexpectedly beautiful episode; the trailer didn't do it justice. And Tosh came across as possibly the most likeable member of the team. If there's a second season they should move the focus from Gwen and onto the other characters more. Make it a real ensemble show and it'll do really well.

Excellent to show another side to Tosh and hopefully her character will develop as the show goes on.
