S02E13: 'Exit Wounds'
To paraphrase Captain Jack's Buffy-inspired opening line to the series - hey kids, will you miss them? The shock deaths of Owen and Toshiko provided a fittingly dramatic end to an excellent finale to this vastly-improved second season of Torchwood.

This time, one has the feeling that the infamous resurrection glove may not work on the post-nuclear meltdown remains on Owen Harper. His death, along with Tosh's, feels very final. It's very sad because these two characters have been compelling to watch this year, but this also means that their fates mean a great deal to the viewers and consequently raise the stakes that the climax of a season finale needs. The final emotional exchange between the dying pair was tragic, tender and beautiful, generating a genuine sense of closure. Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori - you have been fantastic.

James Marsters is always a pleasure to witness in full-on swagger mode, with his Captain John creation toying with our affections throughout the story before finally unveiling himself as one of the good guys. Or has his true end game yet to be revealed? Conversely, let's hope the lumbering Gray is never seen again. Did his personality fall into the Rift? Played in shockingly wooden fashion by Lachlan Nieboer, it felt as if he was reading his lines on an autocue. Let's hope Gray is kept in the deep freeze next to Kerry Katona’s prawn rings.

This episode's impressive direction by Ashley Way enabled the narrative to flow at a nice pace and generate a sense of impending dread. In particular, the Weevil outbreak in the city had an epic, horror film feel to it. Finally, it's worth praising the decision to slip in the legendary Hoix into the action for a brief cameo following its meat-munching appearance in the Doctor Who episode 'Love & Monsters'.

We laughed, we cried and we saluted the passing of two fallen comrades. 'Exit Wounds' was the emotional rollercoaster of a send-off that this outstanding second season of Torchwood deserved.

I loved this episode so much. I really did cry when Owen and Tosh died, it was a complete shock because the BBC really kept the storyline under wraps. I really wasn't expecting it! And then the line when Owen asks Tosh why he should stop screaming and shouting and she says, "Because you're breaking my heart." It was such beautiful acting. I can't wait for series 3!

Okay, I agree the performances in the episode were fantastic but to refer to it as 'the much improved' second series! All through the series we had a feeling of where did Torchwood go, is this an alternate universe Owen? Some of the plots had holes you could push a space station through and the heart was ripped out of the characters. Hopefully season three will improve but I was overall disappointed with season two.

You're not going to get this very often: I, a 16 year old boy, shed a tear at this episode. Absolutely brilliantly written, perfectly performed and a simply amazing ending to a simplay amazing show.

What an incredible ending for a TV Show!!!! I can't wait so long! I MUST know the fate of Torchwood as soon as possible! Will new members join the squad? And if yes, who? I hope Martha Jones will be on board! With the death of Toshiko, the female presence is reduced only to Gwen.

They have to bring Owen back. Burn Gorman was the main reason I watched. His character was charismatic and thrilling to watch! I love Torchwood and can't wait for series 3!

The entire episode had me on the edge of my seat as well as holding the box of tissue(there i said it!) I only started watching this season and became hooked instantly. Now..two of may favorite characters are gone! A very sad ending to a magnificent episode capping an amazing season of what is easily the most unique and captivating programs I have ever watched! I will miss Burn & Naoko. AWSOME TELEVISION!! Can't believe I have to wait a year for the new season.

No, no, no, No, NO! Not Tosh! Not Owen! Bring them back, Jack, or I swear I will not watch again! The episode, like the series, had me riveted but I swear, I've been betrayed.

I had heard that most of the main characters are planning on taking a back seat next season but I had no idea they were going to kill off 2 main characters. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised about Owen. They didn't have many places left to go with his character when they made him the walking dead without the ability to heal or have sex (both of which are very important to Torchwood). It was a great episode and I just didn't see it coming. I definitely had a cry. I hope they replace them with good characters. I guess this is where Martha comes back.

Awesome stuff, I cried for the first time in a long time. It was so very true to the story, everything was wrapped up and although I saw the inevitability of a tragic event such as this happening at the end of the series, a double kill-off was not to be expected and it shocked me and touched me deeply. I will never stop loving this series and this series finale of Torchwood.

This episode was perfection!! I nearly cried. It was heartbreaking at the end when tosh left a message for the team. Torchwood never fails to impress with raunchy and action packed storylines. Jack and gwen are so cute together.
