Wowsers. Day One of Children Of Earth concluded with the most cliffhangery of cliffhanger endings. Jack actually exploded inside The Hub, while the possessed children of the Earth announced: "We are coming... back". In this opening instalment we also learned that Gwen was pregnant and Captain Jack has both a daughter and a grandson. Click 'play' below to watch cast members Eve Myles (Gwen), Kai Owen (Rhys) and John Barrowman (Jack) talking about the ep 1 twists:
That's absolutely the final part of our interview with JB, we promise. Now, looking ahead to episode two - airing Tuesday at 9pm - here are some hints:

That's absolutely the final part of our interview with JB, we promise. Now, looking ahead to episode two - airing Tuesday at 9pm - here are some hints:
- Gwen escapes from the wreckage of The Hub in an ambulance - then joins up with Rhys
- Ianto is forced on the run while being shot at by a sniper
- As for the fate of Jack - well, let's just say that his dismembered body parts are slowly recovered from the scene...
- PC Andy makes his first appearance, but his "assistance" in proceedings may mean bad news for Gwen
- Rhys learns that Gwen is pregnant - in the most unlikely of places
- The kids expand their message to include details of when we can expect 'them' to be coming
- There's one of the most disgusting scenes ever seen in Torchwood

Good first episode, but far too much promotion of homosexuality - as usual...

Loving the first episode (or Day 1) of Torchwood. I wonder what has happened to Jack in the next episode and who or what is coming...

Did anyone else spot that is was the set of Casualty they used for the resuscitation scenes? Guess it makes sense as 'Holby' is moving to Cardiff.

Always had lukewarm feelings about Torchwood but thought this was absolutely fantastic - cracking script, brilliantly executed and hope the rest is as good.

Loved the whole hour, great build up of tension. Unlike some I don't need constant action scenes to hold my interest. This is obviously very influenced by other sci-fi stories but, judging by last night's episode, looks like it'll be a fantastic mini-series.

Nice to see it move out of Cardiff, and so far none of those annoying aerial shots of night streets bathed in unrealistic orange street light. This is obviously influenced by Nigel Kneale's Quatermass 2.

Wow. Amazing, bit of a slow start... but picks up at the end. I hope the series continues this level of high quality, long live Torchwood!
