First look at new sci-fi thriller 'V'

Published Tuesday, May 26 2009, 14:42 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 9 comments
Perhaps one of the most fondly remembered cult series from the '80s is V, a sci-fi drama about an invasion of lizard-like aliens.

Now - as is the trend of late - it's being reborn for the 21st century. Overseeing the project is Scott Peters, creator of The 4400, while the cast includes Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell (au revior, Juliet!) and Joel Gretsch of... oh, The 4400.

The new version of V is part of ABC's 2009-10 lineup.

V is one of the greatest shows of the High 80's, Lets hope they to a Battlestar success with it not a Knight Rider flop

I loved the original... was it 1983/84 ish! blimey... I was barely a teenager. Hope they keep the original soundtrack (http://www.televisiontunes.com/V_-_The_Final_Battle.html) - pretty haunting stuff. The actual follow up series was total pants however.

Finally it's nearly here. I was a huge fan of the original version but always open watching modernised versions. I read there will be a beginning, a middle and an end - I hope the networks permit this. If the writers prove to be good then don't replace them. That's one reason why the original went downhill after Kenny Johnson left.

Noooo! She's returning I tell you! *Breaks down and sobs*. Anyways....This looks good and I hope it performs very well, good US shows get dumped pretty easily (Yes Pushing Daisies/TSCC etc etc, we're looking at you).

Loved it the first time, hammy acting, creaky special effects great entertainment! Remake looks good, obviously better SFX, looking forward the the "birth scene" will it be a la "Alien" or "Men in Black"? And will Marc Singer have a cameo role!

**gasp** Joss Whedon would never have done THAT to Morena Baccarins' (formerly) lovely locks. The poor cow! Surely, these aliens posess a form of evil, that previously, had only ever been glimpsed, when staring directly into a Hairdressers.

I remember the original series of this so well and was gutted when it finished. The scene in the original series for me that had the most impact was when the young girl of the main family gave birth to a little alien baby - unbelievable. I hope they stick to the original storyline and cannot wait for it to be shown over here - any idea when that might be?

I have to say of all the new shows coming our way this has to be the best, i hope the Elizibeths shedule allows for her to be on both shows a significant amount because she is a fantastic actress and should be getting an emmy this year for her amazing work in the season finale of Lost!! She said on the Bonnie Hunt show that she was shooting this series aswell as lost while lost was filming its 5th series so hopefully she can be in Lost the same amount as she was last series. As for the show it looks amazing, maybe it will fill that little whole in my heart that lost will leave me... but i dont know any show that can :(
