Skins Series 6: Alex
So, did you enjoy last night's episode of Skins? We've finally met Sam Jackson's character Alex, so let the games begin!

We've already brought you Sam's preview of his instalment, but there were some things from last night that we just had to discuss. Plus, we had to see if we could get some teasers out of him...

Read on to find out about Alex and Liv, if there's romance in the air for him, and which scene was "pretty awful" to film (it's not that sex scene...)

So, will we see Alex become part of the group more in future episodes?
"Yeah, when it gets to episodes five and six he gets a bit more established - the group accept him. I think at the end of episode three he makes his first step into the gang. The rest of the gang are suffering with the loss of Grace and he's there to help them, in a way, which is nice. That's kind of the way he gets himself in."

How does his friendship with Liv develop? Will it stay strong?
"Yeah, throughout the whole series it's pretty strong. In episode eight, nine, ten we definitely see it. I don't know, it's maybe one of the strongest friendships on Skins. You see at the end that Liv completely relies on Alex. Completely. Especially in her episode. Alex isn't always there all the time because he's out, going off and doing his own stuff as well - he parties a lot and stays out a lot. So Liv doesn't always have him but definitely we see how much she needs him."

I have to ask you about filming that scene where you jumped off the boat. It looked so cold!
"Yeah, it was so cold. It was freezing! We had to jump in, jump off the boat, and then we had to cut and we had to go into the harbour to film the dialogue in the water. It was so cold. We had seven takes and I was just shivering, it was pretty awful! No, it was fun - it was really fun. It was probably the best scene to do."

And you had a pretty full-on sex scene, too - what was it like filming that?
"It was fun! It was interesting, it was an experience. We turned it into a bit of a joke, really, me and the director. We just had a bit of a joke about it - 'You just get on the bed and get going!' It was just a bit of a laugh."

That's probably the best way to deal with it! Is there any romance ahead for Alex?
"Romance? I'm not sure there's romance, but he does have a lot of... I don't know how to say it, actually! He has a lot of incidents. Incidents of a sexual nature. Lovely!"

So what else can we expect for Alex in future episodes?
"He's not so much featured in [episodes] four and five, but in later episodes he develops a good friendship with Nick, which was really great. I think later in the series he becomes almost like a ball of optimism for the gang. I think out of everyone he's the most optimistic about the future and about life and everything."

That must have been quite nice for you.
"Yeah! Yeah, it was quite nice, actually."

So why should we keep watching? Are there twists and shocks ahead?
"Yeah, definitely. I think every single episode has its own twist in it. Compared to other series where there's a few stand-out episodes, I think every episode this year gives something different. It's really exciting. Every episode has a dramatic shock or twist in some way. So that's why you should keep watching!"
