According to MyVoucherCodes, 67% of those who voted chose the teen drama ahead of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and the New York-based Gossip Girl, which claimed second and third respectively.
Mark Pearson, managing director of the website, said: "The fact that Skins was considered the most unrealistic was no surprise as sixth formers don't take that many drugs and have that much sex, or at least you would hope.
"I can definitely agree that American TV shows and films that feature students are unrealistic because they are usually played by people in their 30s!"
90210, Coming Of Age and Superbad also featured in the list.
Meanwhile, The Inbetweeners was crowned the most plausible portrayal of student life, reminding voters of "their time with friends at school".
