Speaking at the Kapow convention in London this weekend, cast member Dakota Blue Richards and Skins novelist Jess Brittain announced that the new series will be "bigger" and "bolder".
The duo also hinted that "new skin" will be joining the cast for the series, which will be extended to ten episodes. Brittain has signed up to write one of the instalments.
The fifth series of Skins, which ended last month, introduced the third generation of characters. Richards stars alongside Freya Mavor, Jessica Sula, Laya Lewis, Sean Teale, Sebastian De Souza, Alex Arnold and Will Merrick.
Details of the new characters joining the show have not yet been revealed, though filming for the sixth series is scheduled to begin in July.
