'Being Human' tops '24' Day 8 premiere
Sky1's 24 Day 8 premiere was beaten by BBC Three's Being Human last night, according to early viewing figures.

The first two episodes of season eight logged 718k (2.6%) and 604k (2.8%) at 9pm and 10pm for Sky1, compared to Being Human's impressive 1.02m (3.6%) for BBC Three.

Human, which stars Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner and Russell Tovey, has failed to drop below the 1m mark since its second series began earlier this month.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips put in a respectable 7.45m (27.8%) between 9pm and 10.30pm. Earlier, 6.23m (21.9%) watched Lark Rise To Candleford at 8pm.

Over on BBC Two, The Best Of Top Gear grabbed 2.19m (7.7%) at 8pm, then the audience dipped to 2.05m (7.3%) during the 9pm screening of The Great Rift: Africa's Wild Heart.

The main Dancing On Ice programme took 8.43m (31.3%) between 6.30pm and 8.45pm, then the results show had 6.48m (24.4%) at 9.45pm. Wild At Heart, which aired between the two shows, managed 6.4m (22.7%).

Celebrity Big Brother attracted 2.1m (7.4%) to Channel 4 at 8pm, then the audience dropped to 1.17m (5.1%) during a reairing of Slumdog Millionaire, which broadcast between 9pm and 11.30pm.

Five's Force 10 From Navarone interested 1.15m (4.2%) between 6.40pm and 9pm, then Payback averaged 1.16m (4.7%) between 9pm and 11pm.

Overall, ITV1 edged primetime with an average share of 25.5% to BBC One's 24.4%. BBC Two was third with 7.1%, followed by Channel 4 with 5.2% (+1: 0.9%) and Five's 4.5%.
