Calum Best had to be rescued from a group of yobs when he made a personal appearance at a nightclub recently.
The Love Island winner was launching a new club event called 1 Night Stand at Blu Bambu in Newcastle when one group of revellers started to shout abuse. Police intervened and Best was driven away in a patrol car to protect him from any potential trouble causers.
A police spokeswoman confirmed: "We gave Mr Best a short lift up the street for his own safety after he received some verbal abuse during a personal appearance at the club."
Playing down the incident, Calum told the Evening Chronicle: "I got into the police car for a laugh and was driven around the corner. That's all that happened."
