Simon Cowell has today apologised to fellow Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman for giving out his mobile number on air.
The pair were being interviewed on ITV2's Pop Idol Extra last week when Simon shouted Pete's mobile number into the microphone, prompting viewers to start calling him while still on air.
"I want to publicly apologise to Pete and say I'm really really sorry," Cowell told the Daily Star. "I felt sorry for him as nobody was phoning him - so I thought I'd get him some friends overnight. But he didn't take it too well."
