Waterman to quit 'Pop Idol'

'Fed up' Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman is to quit the show for a year, The Sun reports today.

Waterman walked off the Pop Idol set when Michelle McManus won the second series earlier in the year saying she was "rubbish".

“I love Pop Idol, don’t get me wrong, but I thought the second one wasn’t as good as the first,??? said Waterman. "I’ve had enough. I’ve done three years of solid TV work. I only went home five times last year - I just want a break."

A new series of Pop Idol has not yet been planned, and no replacement for Waterman is lined up.
