A representative for their management company - Simon Fuller's 19 - confirmed that there would be no more singles from the pair this year.
Instead Sam, 18, and Mark, 22, will continue to co-present the BBC's Top Of The Pops Saturday until December.
Since the show finished in January, they have released two singles as a duo. Their first, a cover of the Beatles' classic 'With A Little Help From My Friends', went straight in at number one. Their second release, an original number, could only manage number 19.
The news comes just days after first series runner-up Gareth Gates was given one last chance at chart success.
