'Moving Wallpaper' update
Published Tuesday, Aug 5 2008, 16:39 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 3 comments

As revealed here last month, Echo Beach has been ditched and the new series will focus on the same writing staff working on a pilot for a new zombie show.
Dave Lamb, who plays Carl (pictured), tells me: "Echo Beach is not coming back, but there's something in Jonathan Pope's contract that means they can't sack him. He has to be allowed to make a pilot. So he attempts to make this pilot involving zombies!"
Unlike Echo Beach, the new zombie series will not air as a separate entity but instead clips of the show will be "interwoven" into Moving Wallpaper.
Lamb, also the narrator on Channel 4's excellent Come Dine With Me, adds of the show's ratings: "In cold hard figures, it didn't do brilliantly but it got the right demographic. It was a very untypical ITV1 audience, and people did stick with it, so it did do well. I thought it got stronger and I'm also very, very pleased with the scripts for this series as well. I've only seen the first three but they're really strong."
The new series airs in early 2009.

I'm looking forward to it. I did used to watch both, but really you were only watching Echo Beach to try and spot things that had been mentioned in Moving Wallpaper. And MW was really very funny, brilliant one liners - it had me weeping with laughter every episode. Loved the 'slip on mint imperial and fall on fork' moment. Brilliant.
