Ready to meet 'The Nominees'?
Published Wednesday, Aug 13 2008, 20:57 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 13 comments
In the wake of Summer Heights High's resounding success on BBC Three, FX has decided to dust off The Nominees, the show Chris Lilley worked on before revisiting his schooldays.
The series - in which Mr Lilley plays all five main characters (well, naturally) - is a mockumentary following five "unique" Australians who have been nominated for the 'Australian of the Year' award.
Here's Tube Talk's guide to who's who in The Nominees. Keep your eyes peeled for a familiar face!
Phil Olivetti
A 37-year-old police officer who was nominated for the award after saving nine kids from a bouncy castle that took flight. Since the incident, Phil quit his job in the force and decided to become a motivational speaker.
Ricky Wong
An extremely bright young Physics student, Ricky was nominated for developing an extremely efficient solar energy panel. In his spare time, Mr Wong also acts in a Chinese musical theatre group.
Daniel Sims
17-year-old Daniel was nominated after volunteering to donate one of his ear drums to twin brother Nathan, who is deaf. The pair live with their mother in the fictional rural town of Dunt in South Australia.
Pat Mullins
Cancer survivor Pat, 47, has battled with adversity all of her life. As a teenager she discovered that she was suffering from skeletal dysplasia of the femur, which means that one of her legs is shorter than the other. Despite this, Pat has developed the ability to roll on the floor at high speed.
Ja'mie King
Before her time at Summer Heights, bitchy schoolgirl Ja'mie was nominated for Australian of the Year after she decided to sponsor 85 Sudanese children living in poverty.
The Nominees airs Thursdays at 10.30pm on FX from August 21.
