Larry Lamb talks 'Gavin & Stacey 3'

As you'll know if you watched our preview clips earlier this month, the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special is a real hoot. But once the festive cheer has subsided and the Wests have returned to Barry Island, will that be it? In this tiniest of interviews Digital Spy's Kris Green catches up with Larry Lamb - Shipman patriarch Mick - to find out.

What can we expect from the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special?
"I think quite a lot of laughs. It's a very family-orientated Christmas story. It doesn't go off tangent for miles, there aren't loads of extras, there isn't any line dancing, no big scenes. It very quickly focuses in on the family Christmas in Billericay."

Would you be keen for a third series? Could you accommodate it now you're filming with EastEnders?
"Somebody phoned me up and told me that they'd heard that there was going to be one! I'd hope so. I'd assume it would go to a third, yeah. Nobody's told me, though. It's all in the lap of the Gods to be honest. The BBC are doing their best to bump it up before Christmas to where a larger number of their BBC One audience have seen it. So they're putting out the second series now, so by the time it goes on as a Christmas special, there won't be too many people operating in the dark, which would have been the case otherwise."

The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special airs Christmas Eve at 10pm on BBC One.

I'm pleased to hear Larry will be in the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special. I had a feeling that now he's in EastEnders, the BBC wouldn't let him do other acting work.
