The IT Crowd: More on the way!

"I think we'll do a Christmas special in the summer and then shoot a new series at the end of the year, start of next year, if we're all free," he told us.
Adding fuel to the fire, O'Dowd also let slip that Graham Linehan has already started writing the next series.
Meanwhile, talking about the failed attempt to make a US version of the show, O'Dowd added: "I did see the poster for it and my part was being played by a really good looking all-American kind-of guy who was holding a monitor under his arm and looking really athletic. I thought 'I'm not sure if they've got it'."

WHy on earth can't one of the major U.S. networks simply pick up the rights to the IT Crowd and show it in prime time?? I don't think it's even ever been tried with any program. It seems like it would be cheap - and why not be a bit "experimental"? Good heavens - they do such a rather rotten job of filling out their schedules as it stands. I'd think doing something "radical" like this would give them a lot of press and with such a good show - I don't see how it could fail. Certainly there are enough in the U.S. who would be able to understand British accents - or am I giving my compatriots too much credit? I LOVE the IT Crowd. It's currently being shown on cable on the IFC channel at 2 in the morning.... SO I don't think it's getting very high viewership.

love it crowd. the idea of american version makes no sense! why can't it just be on bbc america also? its one of the best shows ever. its up there with faulty towers....which i loved as a kid.

I love the I.T. CROWD. I want more!!!!!!!! And I don't want it to be remade here in the states. I hate remakes. Hollywood is supposed to be creative and all they're doing is remaking old movies or making stupid sequels. There....I feel better....

Keep the IT Crowd episodes comming ! It's great for a person (like me) that's been in IT since the 80s, but can be as much fun for newbies ! LMAO ROTF ! BTW, it's often the case that the Americans "soften" a serie or movies and lose the meaning ... Nikita for example ... Bring the original to the US, don't break it if it ain't broke !

Chuffed if thats the case. IT Crowd is really funny, some of its episodes are already comedy classics, like the trip to the theatre and the dinner party at Jen's house. It's well written,well acted and Katherine Parkinson is hot....

Definitely up for it! One of the funniest shows on TV - the characters are brilliant and Graham Linehan is a genius when it comes to writing comedy shows.
