4 major characters of DH are not sincere but Edie was always. Others accept themselves good persons but they always have hidden goals and always say too many lies. Edie was always honest to herself and others. So this character was important for balance. They should not send her out.

I think it was right to kill off Edie, but she deserved to be killed off in a more dramatic manner than she was and maybe a funeral would have been nicer than the flash backs! Edie was an awesome charcter its a shame she was never made an offical Housewife! But i think some how she'll be back! When they decide to end Desperate Housewives!

A little surprised that not alot of people knew she was getting bumped off - it's been in papers, magazines and online for quite a while now. Anyhoo, to be honest, I thought her the way her death was dealt with was rather insipid. There was no real dramatic tension in the moments leading up the crash, and the crash itself was pretty 'meh!'. Considering the way other, more minor characters have died (tornadoes, hostage shootings etc), one would've thought Marc Cherry could've found a more dramatic exit for one of the best characters in the show.

think it was a big mistake to axe edie- she brought a dynamic to the show that will be hard to replace. Also a few warning bells going off in my mind- when us shows start to use the flashback to deliver the majority of a show it usually signals a stagnation and marks the beginning of the end- has marc cherry run out of steam? hope not and hope that another acidic character will be introduced to fill the void left by eadies departure

I wouldn't have been able to say either way, until her farewell episode. I think it was such a lovely tribute to Edie and we finally got to explore so many of her vulnerabilities that I feel were important aspects of her character. But for some reason we rarely saw that side of her. The episode was a moving tribute to the character and made me see that it was right for Edie to die.

She should not of been killed off however, as it jumped 5 years, she can be brought back at anytime I guess!
Alan, Cork on April 29th, 2009
Bring Edie back!!
Rhys on April 29th, 2009
Thanks a million for the spoiler
Daniel, Birmingham on April 29th, 2009
No it was a mistake, tonights episode was probably my favourite so far so perfectly done. But overall I think now she's gone, the show is going to be missing a certain something.
Steve, Yorks on April 29th, 2009
Hahahaaa well done Tube Talk on spoiling this before it's even been on tv! Luckily I've only just come on after watching the episode. That's some good quality work though, well done
K on April 29th, 2009
Thanks for spoiling the show, I can't believe this went up before the show aired on C4!
Ben, Plymouth on April 29th, 2009
no even if they did go back to time inbetween the 5 year jump edie couldn't come back as in tonights episode you'll see she only saw one of the other women once in those five years as she'd moved away (or been pushed away by the others)
Simon, Edinburgh on April 29th, 2009
Dan, didn't you realise that lots of people won't have seen the episode yet? You've just blown it for them.
Rebecca on April 29th, 2009
I think a car crash, followed by getting electrocuted while stood in water is pretty damn obvious that she's dead.
Chris, Middlesbrough on April 29th, 2009
You shouldn't have put it in the title, because a lot of people don't know how the cliffhanger turns out, even though the USA do. But it's been revealed in so many magazines and on a lot of websites, so I'm surprised that there are people who DON'T know about it,

Edie's character has been ruined since Season 3, however she was still one of the best and there was no need to get rid of her. It won't be the same :( She also deserved a better exit!
Jack on April 29th, 2009
She wasn't axed, she quit
Matt, Manchester on April 29th, 2009
Although I thought Edie's death was rather well executed, I think it's a shame that this show continuously kills off good characters. It would be astonishing if this show goes one season without killing off a character. I'm unsure as to why she has left (there seems to be rumours of friction between Nicollette Sheridan and the show creator Marc Cherry), but I think killing her was a big mistake, and something the show in the long term may regret. There was still a lot of scope for her character after all. She isn't just the man-eater that she appeared to be. Unlike the other Housewives she offered something 'alternative' to the show, and I enjoyed her scenes, especially with Susan. Susan: "How do you sleep at night!?" Edie: "Soon. With Mike on top of me, if you know what I mean" RIP Edie Britt. I Have never mourned for a TV character until now.

thanks very much!! was looking forward to seeing edies fate tonight just been ruined for me you should stick to channel 4 pace or at least give a spoiler warning!
Josh, Crewe on April 29th, 2009

Paddy on April 29th, 2009
Joe, Edies gone forever I'm afraid. Within the five years, Edie was banished by the other housewives. It was only until her return this series that they ever saw her again. Well, technically thats not true. But at the risk of facing the wrath of spoiling anymore of tonights episode, I won't tell you. =)
Serena, London on April 29th, 2009
No, i don't think Edie should have been killed off, the door should have been left open for her return. She was one of my favourite characters and yes, did make Susan more tolerable. But i guess the show wouldn't be classed as a drama without any drama.
Bryony, Gloucester on April 29th, 2009
Umm, thanks for giving away the ending...But she shouldnt have been killed off.
Chris, Newcastle on April 29th, 2009
Having already seen this episode, Edie's exit was very well written in my opinion and although sad to see my favourite character exit the show, I preferred seeing her leave with a bang ;-) than a damp squib of an exit! As for the comment saying the producers 'axed' the character, wasn't it reported that Nicollette Sheridan chose to leave? I'm sure the writers could've kept the character had this not been the case!! I for one will miss the many dimensions of Edie and her bitchy comments. I'm sure, like Mary Alice, she will appear now and then in flashbacks!!
Tina Linsey, North London on April 29th, 2009
Nicolette wanted to leave... she wasnt axed! It worked really well having it here...she knew too much about whats going on.. just accept it - and yes the show can continue because there are some fantastic characters played by some of the most aamazing actors out there.
Alex, London on April 29th, 2009
In a way, the door has been left open, though... I wouldn't be surprised if the time frame changes again; maybe reverting to the original period, or even before.... Brenda Strong was killed off in the first episode but has been a recurring character in all 5 seasons.
Andy, London on April 29th, 2009
She's not dead yet???!!!...not for Channel 4 viewers anyway - you've just spoilered a lot of people!
Louie on April 29th, 2009
Love edie but it got to the point where u cudn't do much with character. She is a bitchy character and with those, you end up doing the same thing. I do love edie and it will be weird without her, but she went out in true Housewives style. I hope we see her in flashbacks in the near future.
Andrew, Stockport on April 29th, 2009
Thankyou for ruining last weeks shocking cliffhanger for me and probably countless others. Standards are slipping fast on this site!
Mark, Leeds on April 29th, 2009
I haven't read this article (hate spoilers) but I don't think it should have been published on here yet - the title is a total giveaway and some of us actually watch on channel 4 and don't yet know if Edie is okay or not - so thanks for ruining it for us!
Joe, Sheffield on April 29th, 2009
Well I'm not going to answer that poll because technically they have left it open for her return. Don't forget this series is set 5 years in the future. If they do a series between those 5 years she'll have to come back! But other than that it was a sad but amazing end. This series rocks!
Simon, Cardiff on April 29th, 2009
Hey! talk about spoilers!!!!
Makson on April 29th, 2009
No I don't think Edie should have been killed of. As you said she was a welcome distraction to Susan indeed. I liked the fact that her character wasn't "overused" and that she wasn't originally installed as being one of the main housewives. It made her appearances all the better for it as she provided a nice balance to the main four.
Ian, Nottingham on April 29th, 2009
So she's really dead then? Thanks for letting me know in advance of tonight's episode! (Or I could just be a little slow...)
