The new show from the producer of 'Heroes'

Welcome to Day Five of our Pilot Preview week, featuring, err, Day One. NBC's new drama comes courtesy of Heroes/Lost/Alias executive producer/writer Jesse Alexander and features a cast headed up by former ER star David Lyons.

With explosive scenes (literally) from the outset and the promise that every episode will be like an action movie, it looks like Alexander's latest offering could have us on the edge of our seats again.

What's the story?
The drama follows a group of survivors in the aftermath of a global event that devastates the world's infrastructures. It's set in a Van Nuys, California apartment building and is billed as 'a journey of survival'. Why did the event take place? What does the future have in store? Hopefully, the group of neighbours can unite in their weekly hour of need and unravel these mysteries before they kick they bucket.

I'm seeing Lost all over again...
And that's a bad thing?! You might be drawing similarities because the show is executive produced by Jesse Alexander, who did a similar job on Lost and Heroes. But Day One sounds a lot more Jericho than Lost.

What does Alexander have to say about the show?
According to the man himself, every episode will be like an action movie, with ordinary people being placed in an extraordinary situation (there's the Heroes influence, folks). And with the near-death disaster, it looks like being a case of survival of the fittest.

Wow me with the cast!
Heading up the troops is ER's David Lyons as Sam, a Marine and Iraq veteran who just happens to be a natural leader. Handy, since the group will need someone to take charge. He's joined by Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) as Kelly, and Adam Campbell (Cal Vandeusen in Harper's Island) as Zach. You might also recognise Carly Pope (24's Samantha Roth), Catherine Dent and April Grace.

When can I see it?
The good news is that NBC has confirmed the drama for its 2009-10 lineup. The bad news is that, according to the network's promos, the series won't launch until after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Roll on next year!

Sounds good, definately will check it out and most probably won't be on LOST's level (I mean what show is?) but I think if done well, could be the show to replace LOST for me and could get a rabid following similiar to LOST but if done well so we'll see. Plus you got the former LOST/Heroes/Alias producer heading up the show - three brilliant shows, so I'm sure he'll take all that experience and combine what makes those three shows great and make a terrific series - well I'm hoping anyway. I think this has better prospects than "Flash Forward" in my opinion which is being billed as LOST's replacement. Anyways, roll on 2010... looking forward to the new era of cult shows to replace the likes of LOST, 24 and Prison Break.
