It seems like a good idea since all the important characters were killed off, but was that ending screened because the decision was made before the last few episodes screened. It is not a good idea if all we get to replace it is more reality tv.

I thought that the 3rd series was good throughout and had some great stories. The consistent reminder from the group ("We are Robin Hood") should have enabled the group to move forward and achieve their goal. I expect that a new Sheriff would have been appointed to clear up the mess and obviously Archer was the natural heir to the legend. The ratings for the final episode may have been better if it wasn't moved to BBC2 at short notice - in fact they would've been better off delaying it a week instead! Oh well, another one bites the dust. When's Merlin back?

It is sad to see this great series ending. Killing off (or at least appearing to) most of the main characters did not help of course. However if the decision was based on viewing figures for the last episode, I would hope they took into account (a) the fact they switched it to BBC 2 at the last minute and, (b) a major tennis match was goinf on on BBC 1 at the same time.

It may have hit a ratings low with its final episode but I don't believe it was the fault of the series. The sudden move to bbc 2 due the tennis will have caused this. I didn't actually know it had been on as sky+ doesn't pick up when a program moves from one channel to another. I wonder how many others had to watch it on iplayer as a result. I still think its the right time to end though with Robin being dead.

The season rounded off quite nicely with the poignant death of Robin. To continue it would have been ridiculous. It's also unfair of the BBC to claim cancellation was due to bad ratings - if they had scheduled it better and not swapped the last episode at a few seconds notice - Robin may have went out on a high.

The right decision as it would inevitable have been axed after a 4th anyway. Archer did have potential as the new leading character, but with so many of the supporting characters killed off it was pretty much a non-starter. Rumours of them relocating filming to Scotland were surely another factor in the decision too, but I think the main one is simply that Doctor Who wants the slot back next year, and Merlin has claimed the autumn slot. That said, Robin Hood was a lot better than it got credit for, and certainly better than Merlin, which although good in it's own right, didn't cater to the adult audience as well as Robin.

Good decision - I feared that they may decide to continue the series, despite decimating the cast. The show has struggled in this series, both due to losing three key characters in S2 and also because it fell into the trap of taking itself too seriously and turning into some kind of soap opera (esp the brother issue). It had a good run, but I'm happy the BBC have laid it to rest.

It would have been interesting to see if they could have moved on from the concept of Robin Hood as an individual to the idea that spirit of Robin Hood lived on in the next elected leader of the 'gang'. Now the writers will never know if their work was successful because of their talent or because of the popularity of the three actors - Armitage, Allen and Armstrong. Dr. Who manages to succeed with constantly changing actors in the main roles so maybe Robin Hood could have morphed in the same way. We'll never know.

If the show had continued with 'another Robin' it would have been a pale copy of 'Robin of Sherwood'. Better off saying 3 series and out!

You can't kill off that many high profile characters (including the character whose name is in the show title!!!!) and expect the series to continue. It really could only be weaker next series, and the BBC have saved themselves a lot pain by axing it now. Perhaps they could invest in an exciting new series (drama) or perhaps reallocate the budget to Hole In The Wall (drama). Yeah, that last one...
