Poll: Should 'Gavin & Stacey' be ending?
Published Thursday, Jul 16 2009, 11:31 BST | By Dan French and Neil Wilkes | 8 comments
Last week on the TV Poll we sized up your opinion on Torchwood: Children Of Earth. The new series brought with it a new five-night format, a new method of storytelling, a new group dynamic - and no end of surprise twists, including the outrage-inducing sudden death of Ianto.
Tens of thousands of you voted - making it our most popular TV Poll to date! - and the result was one of overwhelming support. In fact, some 65% gave series three the thumbs up, while just 7.6% of you claimed preference for the old, 13-episode format.
At the other end of the scale, 27.4% of voters made the outrageous claim that they would now never watch Torchwood again following the death of a certain Mr. Jones. Check back in later today to find out what Gareth David-Lloyd has to say about that!
This week, BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey is back on our radar.
Earlier this year it was announced that a third series was on the cards - but with this good news there also came bad news, as creators James Corden and Ruth Jones confirmed that the third run would also be the last.
But what do you think of the decision to end the show? Is it the right time for Gavin & Stacey to bow out? Or should James and Ruth have been more open about the show's future possibilities? Click below to vote, then feel free to expand upon your opinion further in the usual place below!
Check back next Wednesday to find out the result!

When Gavin and Stacey first hit the screens I thought it was absolutely awesome. A shining example of how creativity can be cultivated and supported by the beeb to create something truly unique and massively entertaining. The second series didn't seem to hit the mark as much and I wasn't surprised to read an interview with Corden where he admitted that he didn't have a lot of time to be able to work on scripts anymore (doubtlessly due to his commitment to sub-par sketch shows and should-be-straight-to-dvd-films). This was even more apparent in last year's disappointingly tedious christmas special - basically an hour-long build up to a punchline that never happened. I've got low expectations for series 3 but deep down I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I adore the show, but I want it to go out on a high, rather than be dragged out to the point where it isn't funny anymore (My Family anyone?) So three seasons seems about right.

Three series is enough. Most british sitcoms lose it after a couple of series. Gavin and stacey does not have the lastin ability to be on series after series. It's good where it is now

tbh i think they should wait to see how successful series 3 is and then decide. i understand its getting harder to think of ways to make them meet up but at the end of the day it doesnt matter how ridiculous the reason, people will take it as it is, the series has earned that right

I believe Gavin and Stacey to be the most unique programme on tv. It's not sitcom, nor comedy drama. I can't think of another show that has me laughing my sides off one minute then crying the next. It's silly in places and deeply serious in others and i for one think Jones and Cordon are the finest writers working in tv at the moment. Im sure lots of people will disagree but it's just my opinion. I love it and i will miss the characters hugely. They have enriched my life no end.

I think Jones & Corden know if there's any more mileage in the characters and the situation. I'm thrilled to see another series but happy to leave it up to them. Perhaps we'll get another Christmas special as a finale?
