Published Tuesday, Aug 25 2009, 16:18 BST | By Neil Wilkes | 22 comments
Fans still mourning the demise of Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 will receive (mild) salvation this autumn when a new spinoff arrives on the scene.
Stargate Universe is set in the present day and follows an exploration team on the spaceship Destiny who are suddenly transported to a distant corner of the universe, unable to return to Earth. The cast is headed up by Robert 'Trainspotting' Carlyle. Click 'play' below to watch a trailer:
Stargate Universe premieres October 2 on Syfy in the US and on October 6 on Sky1 in the UK.
Are you excited for Universe or will you not be tuning in? Add your comments to this entry below!

I'd would have preferred another season of Atlantis. I hope they keep their promise about the movie. All the talk I've seen about the body swapping sound like that's going to get old very quickly.

Looks promising, just the ST:Voyager comparison will be ever on-going. Opportunity for filling in many of the holes in the history of the Stargate-verse - Ancient Alliance etc.... P.S. The enforced CK sponsor advert was uber-irritating. I will make a conscious effort to continue not to buy any overpriced branded tat from CK.

Well, it looks like they forgot to add any attractive men to the cast! You'd have thought they'd have put a clone of Daniel/Mitchell for the girlies to look at. Bummer!!!

umm......reserving judgement till its screened but it looks rather "stargate meets BattlestarGalactica meets Star Trek Voyager" which isn't the most original base story line!

Neat! Both Atlantis and SG1 got (very) cheesy in their final years. Its about time they did a slightly darker more serious version. It has the potential to be good, but I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it!

With no SG1, no SGA, no Star Trek I'm definately watching. I'll take it anyway it comes. Maybe it will be better. Can't wait.
