The bad boy and bad girl of 'Skins'

Published Thursday, Jan 28 2010, 14:54 GMT | By Neil Wilkes | 6 comments
And it's here! The new series of Skins finally arrives tonight at 10pm on E4!

While that's clearly good news, there is a rather sad consequence: the end of our series of exclusive interviews with the cast. (Cue sad smilies across the land.)

But for our final instalment, we're going out with a bang. Today we catch up with TWO cast members, Kaya Scodelario and Jack O'Connell, who play the gang's head girl and head boy respectively. And as these are our last interviews, we're pulling out all the stops and heading outside for a wee chat.

First up, we speak to Effy on a wall. Yes, you read that right. ON. A. WALL.

Next, we do Cooky up against a rubbish skip:

Lord, that boy finds it hard to stay still, doesn't he? And sorry, we know our microphone was a bit on the blink - we've since sent it off to the knacker's yard.

Which boy should Effy be with? Would you like to see Cooky find redemption this year? Add your comments to this entry below!

The premiere was pretty awful but something that never let's me down is Jack's acting, I would love for Cook to have a more hardcore storyline this year (and I still want him to end up with Effy.)

The new series looks like it's going to be great! The first episode definitely had a more mature tone than the episodes in Series 3 but that doesn't mean that it was 'boring' because of it. I trust the writers to give us something good! :) And as for who Effy should be with -- Cook, most definitely. The Freddie/Effy storyline is something I've seen played out in almost *every* teen drama. Cook/Effy ("the bad boy & the bad girl") rarely ever gets done -- it's unique and there's chemistry there too!

"Which boy should Effy be with?" - She should definitely be with Cook! Only when she's with Cook does she seem like the real Effy. He doesn't judge her, they actually spent time together (more time than with Freddie), and they can understand each other because their so alike in certain ways. Plus, the funsponge is...a funsponge. :P "Would you like to see Cooky find redemption this year?" - I definitely think that he will! By the end of the Series 3, he already had a huge amount of fans (the most fans out of all the male characters, I believe). And it looks like he's only going to get better and more sympathetic. =D

I can't wait for the new series. The first episode might not have been as exciting as it could have been (probably would have been a better move to have a premiere with ALL the cast, rather than just Thomas.) but I think this series will be improved quality, I thought they really stepped up on the acting front :) And Cook and Effy of course!

I'm sorry but I disagree David. Just because you loved the first series, doesn't mean this series isn't any good. There are a lot of fans out there who continue to LOVE the show, who continue to love the characters and who actually see the amazing young actors out there. It's a bit unfair to judge the whole of the cast and writers, on the fact that the show isn't the same as it was in series 1. Series 1 is over, it's been over for 3 years now, move on. Skins isn't the same anymore, it's different, not necessarily worse or better. just different. Do you think any show is exactly the same in the beginning as years down the line? No, never because things progress, things change. Skins still has a lot of fans, so please don't make your opinion seem like the most important by telling DS to write bad reviews. Some people out there are happy with the reviews and don't want bad reviews because they continue to enjoy it.

I've just watched the first episode of the new series, I really feel that you guys give it good reviews (as do most magazines etc) quite simply because we are (the UK) producing nothing else that fills this gap right now. It's poorly acted, scripted and generally no where near as good as the first series. I cringed throughout the entire episode. Please make something better Channel 4, and please say something truthful about this poor quality show DS so people can start voicing the truth and C4/televison will finally start doing something abou it.
