Tube Talk

'Mars' has landed

Published Saturday, Sep 3 2005, 06:00 BST | By Neil Wilkes

Hels: "So, did you enjoy your brief excursion? Any insider info to share?"

Neil: Although I missed staying up late on Friday night to file a new Tube Talk, I must admit, I forced myself to have just a smidgen of fun in the Scottish capital. Big losers of the festival included Lord Birt ("old fart bleats on" was the suggested headline from one fellow presser) and ITV (I heard laughs when ITV's nomination for Channel of the Year played on the big screen at the awards ceremony). The winners included Prison Break (shown at a screening, much buzz was generated) and LivingTV's programming director Richard Woolfe (a crowd favourite).

Tish: "I've heard October for Veronica Mars on Living TV, but do you have an exact start date?"

Neil: Finally, I do! You'll be able to catch this show every weeknight at 6pm from Monday, October 3.

Lee: "The final season of Six Feet Under is coming to E4, but will it be shown on Channel 4? If so, do you know when?"

Neil: As far as I'm aware, this is an E4-only jobby, but don't be surprised to see it wash up on C4 at some point in the future.

Robert: "I know Paul O' Grady will be returning in September, however will this be his last series? Or will Paul be on our screens for years to come?

Neil: Depends. On whether the ratings are still up to scratch or, (as is more likely) whether Mr Savage wishes to continue. The new series begins Monday, September 12.

David Gregory: "Can you find out what's up with the scheduling of The Daily Show on CNN? It's supposed to be on Sundays at 1030 but even if it is on the EPG its often dropped for one of CNN's usual po-faced programmes. It's bad enough we only get a once weekly roundup rather than the funniest show on TV every night as it is in the States, but its worse when it appears in the schedule but just doesn't turn up on screen!"

Neil: Good news - you'll be able to catch it daily on new channel More4 when it launches in October.

Joan: "Can you tell me please when Sky One will start showing Season3 Nip/Tuck? I've seen their advert on Channel5 including it in the 'coming in the autumn' line up. Hope it IS earlier that the previous Jan/Feb starts for Season1 & 2."

Neil: It is indeed: Sundays at 10pm from October 16. And it's a corker.

Hodan: "I heard that the contender is due back in the US april 2006, so when is it coming back in the Uk?"

Neil: Probably around the same time, although this time round the show will air on ITV4.

Luke: "Will their be another series of Teachers on Channel 4 this year? It's an absolutely brilliant series!"

Neil: Bad news, I'm afraid: the show was axed earlier this year.

Warren Hayden: "Do you know if Living TV or FTN intend to show a new series of 'Sixth Sense' with Colin Fry?"

Neil: No word on a new series of Sixth sense, although I do have a bit of scoop on other paranormal shows coming up in the months ahead. The first is Ghost Towns, a new series with Derek Acorah, which airs from November. Meanwhile, Dead Famous Live will go out the same month, broadcasting live from LA across three nights.

Alex: "Could you tell me when the next series of Desperate Housewives will be airing in the UK? The first series was amazing, although I am hooked on Lost at the moment!"

Neil: That's the point. Desperate Housewives season two will take over when Lost finishes up, so we're talking late Jan / early Feburary. Although by that point, you'll be killing yourself for season two of the latter...

Mike: "What will ABC1 show betweemn 6pm and 6am when it goes 24 hours?"

Neil: More of the same, plus Once and Again. Expect that to change after the first few months though, with more new shows being introduced.
