'Cutting It' chopped
Saturday, October 22 2005, 06:00 BST
By Neil Wilkes, Editor
Annabelle: "Has anyone bought the rights to show the Ellen DeGeneres show, Oprah and Tyra Banks show in the UK?"
Neil: Tyra's headed for Living and Oprah to ITV2. Unfortunately there's no word on Ellen - abc1, maybe?
James: "What are the new shows to look out for?"
Neil: It's not been a brilliant season for new shows thusfar. Prison Break is probably the best of the lot and Supernatural is worth a look too. Everybody Hates Chris is probably the best of the comedies.
Tansley: "Any idea if HBO's Entourage & Rome will be coming to the UK soon? They both have so much hype surrounding them that I am dying to see them, especially Entourage."
Neil: Entourage will be on ITV4 and Rome on BBC Two from Wednesday, November 2.
Phil Maginn: "When is Battlestar Galactica returning to our screens?"
Neil: January time, it looks like.
Pamela: "Do you know when season 3 of Cold Case is going to be shown?"
Neil: February, I'm guessing.
Thumabelas: "Do you know if the US TV drama Commander in Chief will be picked up by a British network and shown over here?"
Neil: Nowhere as yet. It's being considered "too American": so far, ITV, C4 and Five have all said no. But I wouldn't rule out More4.
Andrew: "Hello, have bbc renewed cutting it and when will it be back on screens?"
Neil: Nope, they haven't. They were left a bit clueless after the departure of Allie.
R J: "Just wondered how Trisha Goddard on channel 5 does in the ratings? and are there any new episodes planned, if so when."
Neil: Check last week's Tube Talk for the answer to the first question. As for new episodes, yes - they're coming all the time. Plus she's getting her own primetime show.
Nichole Chapmen: "Hiya Neil. I'm just wondering whether any of the terresttrial channels have picked up the terrestrial rights to Veronica Mars. I know living TV shows it but they show it at a rubbish time, so it's pretty hard for a coursework ridden student like myself to catch up."
Neil: As I understand it, Living TV holds both the FTA and pay rights to this show. And for those of you not watching it yet, shame on you. If the poor scheduling poses a problem, a DVD is available on import.
Gary: "HI NEIL I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THERE WAS ANY PLANS FOR A HEX SERIES 3? OR A NIGHTY NIGHT SERIES 3 EITHER THANKS"
NEIL: There's nothing set in stone yet on either (a good rule of thumb is to wait at least a few weeks after a series ends before asking about the next one). Hex S2 hasn't done as well as Sky One had hoped, but it is original and it does/did have acclaim so it's more likely than unlikely.
Joseph Kelly: "Can you tell me when the new series of Kath & Kim is back on BBC2 and also do you know when the new espn classic sports channel is arriving on sky?"
Neil: Early next year. Probably the same answer for the latter too.
James: "Have Channel 4 got a start date for Season 2 of Desperate Housewives yet? Oh, and do you know of any plans that Sky will be repeating Series 1 of Hex?"
Neil: No firm date yet, but expect mid January. Sky One repeated series one of Hex just before series two began, although I guess Sky Three may be a good place to look in a few months' time. (Incidentally, Revelations begins on that channel in December)
That, dear readers, is it for this week. This fortnight, in fact: I'm off to grab a spot of winter sun so the next edition of Tube Talk will be on November 5. Keep the queries coming!
