We're going to be bringing you full coverage on DS so do stick with us to learn the fate of the likes of Everwood, Veronica Mars and One Tree Hill.
Key dates for the upfront presentations:
Monday: NBC
Tuesday: ABC, My Network TV (from FOX)
Wednesday: CBS
Thursday: FOX, The CW (UPN/The WB)
Scotty M: "Any news on what we can be expecting in the coming weeks on Dr Who?"
Neil: Well first up we have the resolve to the Cybermen cliffhanger - and don't expect anything too revolutionary. Once they've escaped the party (abandoning Parallel Jackie to the inevitable) they head off to the Cybus HQ, where the entire population of London is inside and awaiting processing. Rose and her father go undercover inside, while the Doctor and new friend Mrs Moore try to find a way of bringing the whole thing down. Ricky, Mickey and Jake set about destroying the control tower and, as usual, things don't go to plan.
Alison Robinson: "Having waited so I now find out that the second series of Veronica Mars begins two weeks into my three week holiday so I can't sky+ it! Any news on when it is likely to be repeated/do a catch up?"
Neil: Here's a tip: use the manual record (services, then 6) and set up a weekly record of that particular timeslot.
Aaron: "Hi Neil, excellent column! Now I know you answer this question every few weeks, but is there any news on an Invasion renewal yet?! And if not, what do you think is likely to happen..? Also, do you know whats happened to the Ratings Roundup? It made a comeback for a couple of weeks and seems to have died again.. :s anyway, cheers Neil!"
Neil: News just in as I write this column... Invasion is axed. Ratings Roundups are back up and running - for good this time - from this week.
Sam: "Neil, about a month ago Sky premiered The House of Flying Daggers. I missed it at the time ad it hasn't been on since. Any idea what's going one?"
Neil: Try Sunday, May 28 at 5pm or 9pm on Sky Movies 9.
Rebecca: "Love the column, can you tell me if we'll ever get to see the ellen degeneres talk show here in the uk?"
Neil: Let's just say I have a good feeling in my waters. Watch this space.
Jullip Blue: "I've been told that the one off follow up special to Blackpool is going to be shown on May 18th, can you confirm? Will all the original cast be back, including David Tennant? I'm really excited to see this, I loved the quirky format of the series and am hoping to see more from this. Did you get any Supernatural scoop while you were away? Is it looking good for a move to The CW because I'd hate to think that the finale was the last episode, I've still not recovered from it nearly a week later!"
Neil: I'm afraid I have to disappoint you with the Blackpool follow-up - no, nothing's pencilled in for then or the weeks that follow. As for Supernatural: again, we'll get an answer this week but it's looking good.
Dawn: "Who do I email/write to about this horrible idea of selling my favourite shows in TWO PARTS? I refuse to spend £50 per season per show for Lost and now Prison Break. I'm thankful I have a multi-region player and can save £20 per show. Most aren't as lucky."
Neil: I hear you, Dawn. Unfortunately it's the most lucrative option and is unlikely to change any time soon. Personally I always hold out until they've released the second half, when a full set normally follows. Or, as you suggest, get the region 1 import.
Rach: "I love the column.... I am loving Close to Home, Mondays and wondered how the show did ratings wise in USA. Do you think that Living will pick it up for another season (if one has been commissioned)."
Neil: You'll get the answer this week but I wouldn't put my money on it.
Ollie: "Apparently the Sunday papers have reported that Shameless will not be commisioned for another series after the current one. Is this true? I think the latest series has bee the best, even with the loss of 2 primary characters. Also, just wanted to say a big thank you for the column. Very valuable information very often. Much appreciated!"
Neil: Thanks, Ollie. If you haven't seen it already, check out this story about series four.
David Archer: "any truth to the rumour that itv is making a time travel series to rival dr.who? (by the way, the girl in the fireplace was superb...great writing and acting and has restored my faith in series 2)"
Neil: Yes, Primaeval. But it's only a "rival" in the sense that it's from the same genre - it won't be airing in the same slot.
Sarah Roberts: "Footballers' Wives axed - This can't be true! It ended on such a cliffhanger, how can they not come back for a 6th series? Could this mean that, although ITV won't air it, the prod. co. will still make it and it may turn up on cable or something?"
Neil: Nope.
Ross Proudfoot: "I remember reading last summer that Paramount had the UK rights to show Kitchen Confidential. However, seeing as the show was such a flop in the US do you know if they still plan to show it?"
Neil: They do - in double-bills at 9pm on Thursdays, beginning June 1. This will include the nine episodes (beyond the first four) that were never broadcast by Fox before the axe fell in December.
Roy: "I've noticed they've dropped entertainment tonight uk from Sky, but thakfully they've held onto the US version, which I think is a great show. Are they planning to hold onto Entertainment Tonight US for the long haul?"
Neil: Forgive my lack of definition here, but I think they signed up the US version on a two-year contract last year. So it's about for a while to come.
Mikey: "Hey Neil, I was wondering if C4 or E4 have any plans to repeat Sex and the City and Sugar Rush. I also heard rumours that there would be a second series of Sugar Rush, is this true?"
Neil: There is a second series coming very soon. Series one begins repeating on May 23.
Jamie Scott: "just a quciky! what is happening to TRL on MTV UK, is it going to return in the future or has it be permantly replaced with the weekly show `1`Leicester Square`?"
Neil: As far as I'm aware, TRL UK is no more. The US version is coming back, however, beginning at the end of the month...
David R.: "In Doctor Who, is it true that ... (select text to right to reveal) Mickey is leaving the show?"
Neil: Again, for the answer, select to the right... Yes, in this Saturday's episode. As for how he leaves, let's just say that this episode features two deaths from our united gang. And the Doctor informs the group: "Travel between parallel worlds is impossible... we fell through a crack in time and when we leave, I've got to close it."
Time for a few quick tidbits before I sign off for the week...
Don't forget to keep your eyes firmly glued to DS this week for all the latest on which shows are being kept and which are being cut. More next weekend!
