Misfits, The Fades and other great shows - brand new and classic - make up our telly picks this week! It's always hard to narrow down our choices to just five shows, so we're going to cheat again and mention that Young Apprentice also kicks off this Monday at 9pm on BBC One.

There was no room to mention it below, but be sure to check out our feature on why you should watch the relaunched reality show! You can check out the rest of this week's top picks below...

Death in Paradise: Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One
Ben Miller is a strong lead in this whimsical cop drama, which follows stuffy British DI Richard Poole as he transfers from the UK to the sunny climes of the Caribbean. In the first episode, Poole investigates the death of a colleague (Hugo Speer) but soon gets more than he bargained for when he's teamed with sultry DS Camille Bordey (French actress Sara Martins - in her UK television debut). Light, undemanding fun.

This Life: Wednesday at 9pm on Sony Entertainment Television
Sure, now Andrew Lincoln is a gun-toting, zombie-shooting, gore-grappling hero in The Walking Dead. But back in the day he was just Egg. Yes, This Life is rightly considered a bit of a classic, and now - thanks to Sony Entertainment Television - you can rewatch it all over again (or, indeed, see it for the first time). In this opening episode, meet Egg and his mates, a group of law graduates sharing a house...

The Fades: Wednesday at 9pm on BBC Three
This dark paranormal drama reaches its conclusion this week. The Fades hasn't been perfect - the show could've done with picking up the pace at times - but grew more confident as it continued and we'll be sorry to see it go. Series star Iain de Caestecker (Paul) has already told us that cast and crew are hoping for a second run, so hopefully BBC Three will take a chance on this fledgling series!

The Slap: Thursday at 10pm on BBC Four
You might already have heard of The Slap - the book by Christos Tsiolkas was a big hit, but also a teeny-weeny bit controversial. Now comes this classy Australian adaptation (starring Jonathan LaPaglia, Melissa George and Sophie Okonedo among others). It's a slow-burner, but it's absolutely dripping with tensions, and when the climactic moment comes you will be leaning into your television, mouth agape. It's not an easy watch, but it's rewarding.

Misfits: Sunday at 10pm on E4
OH YES. It's back! Robert Sheehan might not be in Misfits any more, but just you wait until you meet Rudy (played by the wonderful Joe Gilgun). In fact, this is another stellar opening episode for our favourite ne'er-do-wells. It's just as crude, emotional, hilarious and action-packed as ever, with another evil super-villain for our heroes to battle. Oh, and there are new powers - some useful, some bizarre, and one that will make you laugh out loud. We don't want to spoil too much so we'll keep our mouths zipped, but oh. It's so good to have them back.
