Tube Talk

I'm not exactly white, am I?

Published Friday, Apr 6 2007, 23:40 BST | By Neil Wilkes
It's Easter time, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that summer is already upon us.

The sun has got his hat on and he's coming out to play, but in TV land that's not always a good thing. We're now officially entering the slow season: the time when your favourite series go back on the shelf and broadcasters crack out the reality shows to help see them through the long summer months. Even your unrelenting Tube Talk queries slow down as you undertake more sociable pursuits. Traitors, the lot of you.

The doom and gloom of summer is yet to fully hit us, however, as the pace is temporarily picking up in the coming weeks for the many season finales.

Before further ado though, time for another Tube Talk In Video - and this week there are previews of a very funny Desperate Housewives, the last ever episode of Life On Mars and a 'I can't believe this is happening' episode of Prison Break.

To watch the show, click the play icon in the screen just below.

The Tube Talk MySpace beat all the odds and actually made some friends since its reluctant entrance into web 2.0 last week - the little fella is already into triple figures, and he couldn't be happier! This week I'll actually be uploading some content to the area and, as an extra incentive to befriend us, I've included an extra Doctor Who hint in the accompanying blog. Genius.

A special mention now for Grey's Anatomy, currently airing its second season on Five. I'll come clean and admit that I've never really "got" this show - it's perhaps a little too romantic for my testosterone-pumped body - but this week's two-parter is pretty damn good. Check out the explosive 'Code Black' special Sunday at 8pm on Five following Spider-Man 2.

Now, time for the queries to begin - but first you need to exercise those fingers. Click on to page two!
Amy: "Hey, I started watching Threshold when it came on Sky One, but it seems to have stopped showing on Fridays at 9, do you no what's happened to it, thanks and luving the page, keep up the good work!"
Neil: Wow, aren't you out of date, Amy? Threshold bit the dust a looooong time ago.

Tom: "hi! i like your site on digitalspy, and i like the infos on when New US Shows Air in the UK. I would like to see Info when the current series will end their premier run on Sky/Ch4 etc. it would be easier to plan the summer with knowing about when the current series will be over and if broadcasting stations will put pause into the airings of the seasons. i would like if this info would be available on a "Upcoming UK Seasons/Series End" Site"
Neil: Hang on there, the PLP will get mightily pissed if the FLP enters the scene. But just for you, here's a list of the tentative finale dates for several of the major series on air right now:

24 - June 3 (Sky One)
Bones - May 31 (Sky One)
Desperate Housewives - May 31 (C4)
Doctor Who - June 23 (BBC One)
Heroes - July 9 (Sci Fi)
Lost - May 27 (Sky One)
Prison Break - June 4 (Five)
Supernatural - July 1 (ITV2)
The O.C. - April 24 (E4)

James Boldock: "When will series 4 of Hustle air on BBC 1?"
Neil: It was due to be this Thursday, but it's now been pushed back indefinitely.

Lee Trotter: "I remember reading your column earlier in the year saying 'My Name is Earl' season 2 will show in the summer. Any concrete date yet?"
Neil: Notohing yet, "August" is the best I have - but expect it to start in the final week or two of Big Brother 8 (it's a crossover tool to try and bring in as big an audience as possible).

Scott L: "Why have e4 taken off new ER on Thursdays at 9? It clashes with Heroes and Prison Break as well then!"
Neil: Worry not, it's still on Thursdays at 9. But it's getting a bizarre "first look" on Channel 4, Mondays at 10 from the 16th.

Jason: "Now that Channel 4 has released their Spring Schedule, have we got an airdate for the premiere of Brothers & Sisters on E4?"
Neil: Nothing concrete - but my guess would be end May / early June.

Sean: "Hello again Neil. As a fan of shows made by US Cable Network Showtime, I have made several attempts to access their website for news and clips of their programmes. Unfortunately I am denied access to their US website as it is only available to view for people within the US. Is there any particular reason for this and can you get this restriction lifted for me."
Neil: It's mostly because of rights restrictions (certain content can only be viewed in the US/Canada), a fairly common-place restriction, but Showtime are a little over-zealous and have blocked the entire website. As powerful as I am, I can't make you an exception to this. However if you do clever things with your IP and/or proxy you should be able to get around it - but don't ask me how.

Cris: "Finally! So good to put a face to a name!! And what a great idea! A video tube talk :) Just wondering if you have any news about the second series of "Saved". It is definitely going ahead? If so, when will it be coming oversea? In the meantime..Happy Easter.. don't take too much time eating chocolate eggs.. we can't wait to hear more from you!"
Neil: I only have one egg this year - but it's Milo-shaped, which is more than enough to keep me going. Although Saved did good numbers, TNT decided not to bring it back for a second season. I guess you could say it wasn't saved. What? Too obvious? Unfunny? Don't make me throw down.

Beckie: "are E4 trying to get people to not watch one tree hill they keep putting it in stupid timeslots on a sunday! any gossip on the new season?"
Neil: It is a bit ridiculous but the only thing I can think of is that it is still within the neighbourhood of the T4 audience on Channel 4. Bit of goss on season four down in the spoiler spot.

Christian Scott: "Please can you tell me when the second half of season six of The Sopranos is being aired? I noticed that the part one of series 6 is being aired on channel 4 at a sacdalous time on monday night, the paper says it is on episode 5 of 22. i presume they are just going to air the whole series all the way through? Will there be any of the final 10 episodes (starting this weekend on HBO)aired earlier on E4 or More4? Secondly when is series 2 of Rome due to air on the BBC? Thirdly, what are ITV playing at? No Entourage season 3 yet. any ideas when this will be back on? Finally thanks for alerting me to Heroes. Really enjoying it!"
Neil: The final episodes of Sopranos will play out on E4 first, following on C4 at a later date. Rome is currently scheduled to return to BBC Two (and BBC HD) next month, while Entourage is back in the summer.

As always, select the area to the right of each programme to read the text - but be warned that you may well be spoiled.

Doctor Who: The place slows somewhat in episode two as the Doc and new travelling buddy Martha travel back to the time of Shakespeare, 1599 London. Big Will is mysteriously coming up with a new play, 'Love's Labours 1' which, as we all know, never made it as one of his greats. Martha wants to take it back to the present day and flog it on eBay, but as she soon learns, Will isn't the one penning the script. Elsewhere, Martha and the Doc end up in bed together - but someone from the past comes in between them. Don't forget your bonus hint in the blog of the Tube Talk MySpace.Doctor Who airs Saturdays at 7pm on BBC One

One Tree Hill: A few hints on what to expect from the start of season four:
1. Everyone survives the accident - but Uncle Cooper then decides to leave
2. 'Derek' arrives on the scene, claiming to be Peyton's half-brother - but he's not as sweet as he first appears
3. One of the girls is getting pregnant...
One Tree Hill returns to E4 Suinday at 5pm

Peep Show: Johnson fans have a lot to be excited about because it's Johnson overload in episode two of the new series (airing April 20). The big man takes a shine to Jez's girlfriend, The Big Suze, and makes him an indecent proposal - £530 to sleep with her. Strapped for cash, Jez accepts - but then Suze dumps him for Johnson anyway. Meanwhile Mark is struggling to come up with ideas as head of the 'Project Zeus' workgroup, and getting an "angry lapdance" doesn't help matters. Peep Show returns to Channel 4 on Friday, April 13 at 10.30pm

The Apprentice: Loudmouth Tre finally gets a chance to prove himself in the next episode as he heads up the boys' team, with a new recruit in the form of Katie (Jadine is back winding everyone up on the girls' team). This week's task is to make as much money as possible, doing anything they like, in the London borough of Richmond with a stake of just £100. The boys try out gardening and the girls kiddies face-painting, but when the evening rolls around, one team faces a dilemma over how far they should go to make a quick buck. Meanwhile love might be in the air as two candidates start to get closer. The Apprentice airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One

Send your requests for shows to be featured in the Spoiler Spot to the usual place.

So ends another Tube Talk. Do come back next week for more - and keep your queries coming to the usual place!
