'Friday Night Dinner', 'Arrow', 'The Following': Tube Talk Q&A

By and Daniel Sperling
You asked, we (mostly) answered! It's time for another edition of Tube Talk's Q&A, and we think this one is the best yet (we're going to say that every week). Continue for more details on the return of Friday Night Dinner, The Bridge, The Mindy Project and more...

When is Friday Night Dinner back?

Good news - Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal and, of course, Mark Heap have all been back filming a third series of Channel 4's raucous family comedy for the past few months and the new episodes are expected to air in early 2014.

It's going to be a busy old year for Bird - what with a second Inbetweeners movie also confirmed for August 2014, so good to see that he's still making time to eat a lovely bit of squirrel, drink salt water and generally undergo a string of humiliations for our amusement.

When is The Mindy Project season two airing in the UK?

'The Mindy Project'

Erm, not for a while it would seem. The Office graduate Mindy Kaling's comedy about an awkward OB/GYN on the hunt for love was one of the breakout hits of last year on both sides of the Atlantic, and naturally fans are clawing for its return.

After speaking to the lads and lassies of E4, we've discovered that season two of The Mindy Project won't be hitting UK screens until late summer. There's no getting around it - that's a long wait, especially when we know the premiere will feature a guest appearance from the absolute legend that is James Franco, playing a rival doctor who makes Mindy question whether she can stay in Haiti with love interest Casey (Anders Holm). We'll bring you more airdate info as we get it, folks!

Any news on The Bridge series two on BBC Four? I need Saga in my life!

Us too! It's been too long - over 18 months - since we've witnessed an awkward exchange between Saga (Sofia Helin) and Martin (Kim Bodnia)!

The good news is that The Bridge will finally be returning to BBC Four in January - so once Christmas is done, we can put all that festive cheer aside and get all dark and gloomy again with some Nordic Noir... perfect for those chilly Winter months!

When is The Following back?

Kevin Bacon in 'The Following'

Soon! The Following returns in January with Kevin Bacon's too-old-for-this-s**t character Ryan Hardy stepping away from the FBI, until a series of bizarre incidents soon indicate that serial killer Joe Carroll's (James Purefoy) murderous mission is far from over - despite his apparent death by explosion in the season finale. Sky hasn't confirmed an exact date yet, but The Following doesn't debut in the US until January 19, so that's already cut that somewhat vague date down by quite a bit.

Also, we'll soon be off to meet Purefoy for an exclusive season two interview that you should keep an eye out for on Digital Spy around the time of The Following's return. Unless, of course, James is one of these method actors and we never make it back to the office, in which case we love you all!

Is Arrow not on Sky1 next week? It's not listed for Monday...

Grant Gustin as DC Comics hero Barry Allen/The Flash in 'Arrow': 'The Scientist'

Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash in 'Arrow'

It's not, and it's down to that old chestnut - the haphazard scheduling of US networks. Arrow took a break over in America last night - blame Thanksgiving - so we won't get a new episode until December 9.

But look to the positive - when Oliver Queen does return to our screens, you'll be getting a double dose of superhero action for your money! Yes, Glee's Grant Gustin will be making his debut as Barry Allen in next episode 'The Scientist' - and for you comic newbies, Allen is the civilian alias of DC's scarlet speedester The Flash.

Barry will meet Oliver (Stephen Amell) when he is assigned to investigate a robbery at Queen Consolidated and quickly bonds with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) - careful you don't incur the wrath of the Olicity fans, Grant!
