Personal reasons

Another day, another party. This time the occasion was Diva TV's launch bash - bizarrely, held one day after the channel had actually launched - next to a swimming pool at trendy London hotel The Haymarket.

Unfortunately there were no dodgems to help me expel my sexual frustration this time round - but there were synchronised swimmers and rubber ducks:

And this big old diva - Jocelyn Brown!

Diva TV - available on Sky channel 282 - features a lineup targeting Women In Houses, including Oprah, US soap Bold and The Beautiful (it's like waiting for a bus: nothing and then ten come along at once) and, somewhat out-of-place, The Late Show With Dave Letterman.

New show alert: Are You Smarter Than A Ten Year Old?, Sunday at 6pm on Sky One. Fronted by Noel Edmonds, the quiz sees an adult answer questions from the National Curriculum meant for six to ten-year-olds. And they're hard! For instance, when did Samuel Pepys start writing his diary? An eight-year-old apparently could apparently inform you that it was 1660. The series is very Deal Or No Deal in terms of filming, lighting and pace so should do the business nicely for Sky One.

The PLP has been freshly updated with dates for the new seasons of Bones and Cold Case, plus the start date for Journeyman!

Now, as you may have heard, broadcasting legend Moira Stuart has stepped down from BBC News after more than three decades of providing quality, consistency and a calm reassurance to the corporation's news output: Watch:

The pace finally starts to pick up a little in episode three of Prison Break, airing next Monday (8th) at 10pm on Sky One. There's finally more T-Bag and a suprise in a box for Linc...

Finally, don't forget Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, tonight at 10pm on ITV2. Nothing much happens in this episode, although there is a lesbian scene involving Billie, which I'm sure is reason enough to watch. And if it wasn't, there's a guest turn from Toyah Willcox - although I should make it clear that she is not the other half of the girl-on-girl coupling. Black Donnellys is such an excellent, taut character-driven show, which, with more breathing room, could have grown into something very special. It seems an odd decision to show it over here, given that the final episode gives no effective resolution to the series and feels like a cliff-hanger. Unfortunately we'll never get to find out what happens to the Donnellys as the network was too short-sighted to give it a better chance. I think a lot of viewers over here will be disappointed when it ends.
