Here I am, at last

These are the first shots of Billie Piper back filming for Doctor Who after she signed up to appear in three episodes of the new series.

Taken last week, the snaps show Rose Tyler waiting behind police barriers at the scene of an incident. Also on the scene is the Doctor's new companion Donna (Catherine Tate).

Are you excited? Or is Billie's return a bad idea? Click the 'add comments' link below to let me know your thoughts.

I think it will be really good because i cant actually wait till rose meets martha and donna because theres gonna be a lot of tention and it could turn out to be a fantastic end to the series

It could work... Though I did like the way she left the series in the first place so I hope its done well and doesn't cheapen the original leaving from doomsday. I think it'd work best if it is only a temporary thing, with the two worlds colliding or whatever being part of the finale... Possibly brought on by the sontarans? On the other hand I hope martha is back properly for the specials and season 5 cos she's great and I hope she's not getting pushed to one side.

Whoah I can't believe people are saying that Freema is a bad actress.. she obviously is not. She is damn awesome and Martha is awesome and I could write a very long essay on why. I don't know why Rose fans have to compare all the time either.. it's like you enjoy spreading hate. Also, give Donna a chance, she hasn't even been developed properly yet.

I think bringing Rose back is exactly what Doctor Who needs. Martha in my opinion was no where near as good a companion, and Donna was nothing more then a comedy attachment in the Runaway Bride. I will be interesting to see how Kylie performs, but now nothing will seem as exciting in the world of Who, than Rose Tyler returning to the Doctor's side. But as others have said, it'll be interesting to see how they achieve it, and how long will she be hanging around? Hmm....

Bad idea! I like Rose, but her goodbye was heart breaking and now I won't ever care again, when I see it. :( Totally ruined the ending of season 2. I still hope it will only be a projection or something.

I'm really really really pleased she's coming back, I think Martha was terrible, I thought she was alright at the start of the series but at the end of Lazarus Experiment I was so annoyed with her. Can't wait to see Billie's return, it sohuld be FANTASTIC!!!!

@Joe The one filmed in my school. :p But still, she was back with the Doctor as his companion which was my point to Dan about other old companions returning to the show, Rose isn't the first to do so.

I WANT MARTHA. :(

Totally BAD idea. Rose Tyler must be exterminated!

Good idea, even better if she kills off Catherine Tate.

It is a bad Idea, I could not stand her the first time around. She made Dr Who a bit too mushy for all concerned

Good to see Billie back. She is greatly missed on the show.

@Alex: Sarah Jane guest-starred in an early series 2 episode - the one that had Anthony Stewart Head as the high school principal.

I think it's a bad idea. How is it possible.......did Mickey find some way back from the parallel universe for him and Rose? I was really fed up with Rose at the end of season 2: she started to get on my nerves to be honest. I love Martha: she tells the Doctor what she thinks and doesn't act like some sort of puppydog.

Would have loved it a year ago, but now feel it could ruin the brilliant writing of her exit. Plus we know she's not staying...
Lara, London, on December 12th, 2007
I loved Rose and missed her sorely when she was trapped. The scenes on the beach broke my heart! Freema took a while to get used to but I began to like her when she looked after the Dr's watch in The Family episode. Am very unhappy about Catherine Tate being the Dr's companion but being the fickle person I am will probably love her too after a couple of episodes...Rose who???

I'm a bit split here, I'm glad Rose is back but at the same time I think 'will it work'.
Liam Diamond, Edinburgh, on December 12th, 2007
does this mean the doctor will traver to the parrelel universe agian... i thought he closed that up
Caitlin, Leicestershire, on December 12th, 2007
Looking forward to seeing Rose back, but can't help but feel that it's a bit of a cop out. "This is how I died and I can't EVER EVER EVER EVER see the doctor again...for two seasons." Also worried that it's going to become the 'Look at all these competing assistants...oh, and that doctor bloke' show. Basically, if the writers can pull it off - brilliant! If not, eep...
